Our local hospital (which also does the entire suite of laboratory work), and its two associated clinics, now use "curbside checkin". All of the parking spots are numbered. When you arrive, you call the curbside checkin phone number, and any paperwork, insurance cards and id scans, if needed, etc. are all brought out to you. Then you are officially "checked in". When the magic time arrives, the Dr.'s nurse or the tech (phlebotomist, X-Ray, MRI, etc.) will come out and get you for your appointment or procedure. It works very smoothly for the patient. A bit more walking for the employees. I just sit in my truck with the AC on during the whole checkin/wait process. I would much rather be there than in a waiting room full of sick people. It’s odd to me to see open carry folks wearing a mask or bandanna, makes me do a double take.

^^^^^^^^^^ Surprisingly, most everyone has a cell phone even here in Mississippi. What is interesting is that some people in their 40s seem to have more trouble with telehealth than people in their 80s.

Karen apparently visited our shop. Posted about her experience somewhere online. Nowadays a business can get fined harshly for not conforming to the guv'nuh's mask-on mandate. Gun shops in particular get heavily scrutinized, thanks to the blue color of this state. So now every employee wears a mask while on the floor. And as of last Tuesday, so do all customers. No exceptions, even for those who proclaim mask allergies due to "health reasons". Fear of something social media, I guess. Never mind a regular customer potentially posting how we "caved in" to the state Politburo. -MG

I cannot imagine being required to wear a mask when it's 116 and 117 degrees expected for the valley of the damned (metro Phoenix) this weekend.

It seems to me that your company is running a risk of opening themselves up for lawsuits. If someone has a true health reason for not wearing one and they have medical problems from being made to wear it ..... huge lawsuit on the way from the victim. These stupid rules put companies in a difficult position for sure.

I just spent a week in SLC on a construction site outside on the tarmac of the new airport terminals. It didn’t hit 117, but it was in the 90’s. Wearing a hard hat, jeans, boots, gloves, safety harness, safety glasses, safety vest and a mask while in the direct sun was pretty terrible. Almost everyone, including me, had our noses uncovered. It’s just too hot to wear it properly. But being caught without a mask is an automatic 3 day site suspension. First offense. Second offense is expulsion. They did say if you are in a place where you aren’t near anyone they won’t be dicks about it. So when I was in a lift by myself I took mine off. Other than that I had to make sure I wore it. “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

I sure am glad I left NY State 30+ years ago: https://www.adirondackdailyent...y-dollar-on-warning/ Tupper Lake mayor puts Family Dollar on warning JUL 10, 2020 AARON CERBONE Staff Writer TUPPER LAKE — Mayor Paul Maroun says the village’s Family Dollar is one mask-related violation away from having its certificate of occupancy temporarily revoked. Maroun said he has received several complaints that employees at the store are not wearing masks. Two of these complaints were relayed to him by the Franklin County district attorney’s office, one by the state attorney general’s office and “several” from locals coming to him unofficially. He said he sent the chief of police there “a couple of times” and the code enforcement officer “several times,” and he said he went there himself last week to speak with the store manager. He said he told the store and its regional manager that if he receives another credible complaint, he will pull the store’s certificate of occupancy for at least 48 hours. “The governor has said the pressure is on the mayors to enforce the law,” Maroun said. An April 1 memo from the state about its PAUSE Enforcement Assistance Task Force states that “Subsequent non-compliance by businesses … may be subject to enforcement from primarily local, but in some cases state, authorities.” Maroun said the governor’s executive orders are law. An April 12 executive order states that any employee working with the public must wear face coverings and be provided them by the employer. “This provision may be enforced by local governments or local law enforcement as if it were an order pursuant to … the Public Health Law,” the executive order says. Maroun said when someone makes a complaint about a violation online of over the phone, it is sent to Albany, then to the Regional Control Room, then to Franklin Country and then to him. He said he gives out warnings, which have for the most part been effective. He said he does not want anyone to lose an occupancy certificate or license to operate. “I want businesses to survive in Tupper Lake; at the same time I take an oath to follow the state of New York laws,” Maroun said. “I don’t want to do this. … But I don’t want anyone to get sick from COVID and die. That’s my main issue.”

Wearing a mask alone in your car to “do your part to protect others” is about like wearing a condom while masterbating alone to stop unwanted pregnancies.

Allow me to introduce you to my new favorite word: medical. It stops the mask patrol dead in their tracks. Upon entering Meijer in Sault Ste. Marie yesterday, I was greeted by a young man eager to point out my lack of a mask. He went on to explain I could enter the store and purchase a mask, but a swift, firm utterance of "medical" from my lips ceased all further parleying. "Medical" had the same effect on the purveyor of tickets at the Soo Locks Boat Tours. I noted that once on the boat, most demanded themselves anyway.
