Videos on news site pages...
I don't know if anybody else is irritated by it, but these pop-up videos on news websites just tick me off!

Here's an example: https://thehill.com/opinion/ca...crime-normalization/

Go to the web page and a video automatically starts playing at the top of the page. Since I much prefer to READ than to watch and listen, I just scroll on down to the article. As soon as I scroll past the video, it jumps to a pop-up on the right side of the screen and continues playing, which means I then have to stop reading to go close the thing! If I wanted to watch it, I would have stayed at the top of the page!

I already know what some of you will say... "How hard is it to just close it?" "How about just ignoring it?"

Yeah, I get it; 1st world problems! It still irritates me and wanted to see if I'm the only one bothered by this annoyance.

[rant over]

I just click and close, yeah agree that I don't want to watch the video much less have the speakers on my device cranked up so everyone has to participate in my selection.

99.99% of the time the volume is off on the device so I couldn't hear it anyway.

Prefer to read and if it's a video, see the CC captions vs listen to it.

Yep.

There are only a couple of news sites I visit. They both do this and it is really annoying.

I use an extension in my browser that stops videos in websites from autoplaying. It works. This is on my PC. I don't know if it would work on a tablet or phone.

What is the name of the extension?

I'll add my bitch...Fox news has a video on just about every single story. However, the videos almost always have nothing to do with the print story.

I'll see some story on President Trump, click the link, watch the videos and it's completely unrelated to the story. WTF?
