People suck: A work related gripe
Doing four 10 hour overnight shifts because a night manager is in legal trouble and had to quit. I knew he was an idiot but the depths of his idiocy went further than I could imagine.

Wednesday night the unloaders got about halfway done with the truck and left. Guess who got to finish it? Last night when the pansy brigade got there and were told they need to pick up the pace and finish an unload before they leave, they got butthurt and walked out. Guess who got stuck doing the unload?

Typical of every company, when you demonstrate that you can get shit done, you’re the one that everything falls back on.

I do not have those problems. I am self employed. Is that possible for you?

At one of my part-time "I'm retired, but not really" gigs, we have people who remain on the payroll ONLY because it'd be difficult to replace them. This is not highly-specialized work... lots of people could do it, and the pay is more than fair, but the applicant pool is pretty much non-existent because nobody want to actually work. Otherwise, the deadweight woukd all be fired in however long it took to print the letters.

So the actual producers grumble, but don't ever make good on "This is BS, how about you replace these oxygen thieves with actual labor or all of us go, today" because they have a work ethic, responsibility, and commitments they need to keep.

We're being held hostage.

I had a guy on my team where we'd get more work done when he wasn't there because he wasn't distracting the rest of the workers.

Last time I worked for 'the man' was a temp. job... (40+ years ago) me and two other guys were brought in to unload a tractor trailer loaded with 1500 florescent light fixtures... office building was still under construction... were told where exactly to put them... we started to unload them and I did the numbers and timing in my head and realized if we hustled we could do it in about 2 hours and they we're going to have to pay us for 4. We got done and went and told the boss lady we were and started to head home... she said hold on a minute.. came back with a mop and bucket and gave it to one guy then wandered off and came back and told me and the other guy we had stacked the fixtures on the wrong side of the room,.....

They should assign extra homework to kids that excel in school.
That way they'll be prepared for carrying the lazy at work.

And what’s the reward for hard work?
More hard work including what others are too lazy to do.

Lazy people do a little to know work and think they should be winning.
Winners work as hard a possible and still worry if they're lazy.

So my question would be, did the people who did not finish on Wednesday get fired?
Next question, did the group that got but hurt and walked out the next night get fired?

welcome to the new normal. the amount of no call no shows are nuts. And then add sick call outs like leaving after 10 minutes with a head ache or "I need a mental health day!"

Yes, it was the same group of four that left the job half finished Wednesday that walked out Thursday. Voluntary termination and not eligible for rehire now.

Sorry to hear that it looks like it is up to you now, for at least a while. Is the company you work for having a hard time attracting people?

Yes, we always have trouble finding people that’ll actually work. I’ve done my time in hell though. Finished my week of overnights at 6am.

Wouldn't happen to be a retail establishment from Arkansas would it? Sounds a lot like my experience with them if it is, but I wasn't management.

Not WalHell. I worked for them in logistics for 13 years and once the current CEO took over, it became the most miserable place on the planet. They’re hiring people at nearly $30/hour now and can’t keep anyone.

Well now they’re riding this horse’s bones. I just got five more overnight shifts. They need a “skilled and diligent” leader to straighten things out. Fuck. Me.

I understand completely. I'm fortunate in that most of my co-workers are retired cops or military. Two are in their twenties. One of the two has to be told to wait on customers, the other comes in literally hours late each day. Thursday late boy came in drunk. I can't stand these work habits. Geez, it's sales, you get commissions. You guys just want the low hourly wage?

Yes , people suck . We had guys in our shop that you couldn't do enough to make them happy . They made about $38 dollars an hour , full benefits , four 10 hr days with overtime on Fridays if they wanted it .Catered lunches at all safety or training meetings , and I could go on and on . It was never enough though . I don't miss their bullshit at all . Constant source of major stress.
