I think it's an affectation based on the person's worldview. To them, it's quite obvious that "the queen" refers to the queen of England.

I met someone in an apprenticeship. She talked about going through "the academy." My first thought was the FBI academy. For her, "the academy" was flight controller academy. Unfortunately for her, she got fired by Reagan during the strike and she had no choice but to strike.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

No, they have a Prime Minister because they have a Parliamentary form of government.

It is a Federal Parliamentary Constitutional Monarchy. The Monarch is the Head of State, which is why they have a Prime Minister and not a President.

Okay, maybe she's not "The Queen". As of 2022, there are 43 sovereign states in the world with a monarch as head of state.

Without looking it up, name the other queens:

Reminds me of Monty Python's Argument skit.

Although not a fan of a Monarchy, I’ve got to say I had more respect for her reign, than the current term of the meat puppet Potatus in office at present.

According to the inner net, when she was Princess at age 14, she learned to shoot Winston Churchills personal Tommy gun to defend against the Germans. Thats pretty bad ass. Too bad there isn't video of this.

I was just going to mention that Liz2 was so iconic that anyone, anywhere knew who you meant when you said "the queen". That's why we say it, because it's understood.

As a former colonial born in Hong Kong, she really was my queen. Every time I buy something or lick a stamp, it was her face I saw.

Even though HK did not become a colony during her reign, it benefited greatly under British management. It would not have become the financial hub of Asia without it. Most people there born before the 90s generally have a favorable opinion of her. Affectionately calling her "The Boss Lady".
