Quit staring at my wife's Butt

Twice now I hired a trucking company to haul a cnc router about 1200 miles, both company's promised they would be there and both are A no show. this piece of machinery takes a crane to lift and they are sitting there with the clock running.

Many calls text and email and nothing, goes right to voice mail. they have a great nice looking website were great to talk to I signed a contract and gave them a deposit.

the seller on the other end is completely pissed at me and the trucking company which is understandable, at this point I just don't know what else I can do, I have a feeling that the seller is going to keep the deposit money I gave him for the machine and I get nothing, no machine no refund.

I have shipped business-related heavy items across state using FedEx several time.

Once a similar deal, had crane set up at customer site for a specific time, multiple folks on my crew scheduled, blocking customer egress from a parking lot..........needless to say when the FedEx supervisor called to advise they were bumping my delivery to next day - hilarity didn't ensue.

Much heated discussion resulted in them making the delivery, but I learned a lesson in their Ground Delivery arm having the worst reputation the hard way.

I feel your pain. Frown

Have you tried Old Dominion Freight Line.
They are a great less than load company, and they have a terminal in Denver.

Why not opt for a heavy equipment moving and logistics company? They'll coordinate the crane, lifts, and trucks on their dime.

I don't know if that's a fair price or what is the right thing to do but, apparently, what you're currently doing isn't satisfactory either.

If the seller has the crane, does this mean they're used to selling cnc routers? When I was a buyer, I just pushed off the responsibility of arranging transportation to the seller. That was when we didn't have our own accounts as our volume wasn't big enough.

We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I ship vault doors that require special logistics on both ends. Those that don't go as standard freight with a regular shipper (usually R&L).

Don't laugh......

I have used U Ship with great success. Don't know if that's how you found whomever you're using, but I've been 100% with them. I post what I need and when I need it and let the drivers bid. Very rarely do I go with the lowest bid. I check out their feedback, give them a call to see if they answer, etc.

I'm willing to pay for results, and I'll let them know that up front. Usually these guys pick up several partial loads along the way to make the trip worth while. The last door I sent was time sensitive, and its new owner didn't want to take any additional risk having it going who knows where with who knows what being loaded around it. I think we offered to pay the guy 3 times his bid to haul our crate solo and straight through. He showed up to load early, and showed up to drop off early.

the going rate is about 2 dollars a mile, fair price is 2400 which is what they quoted me and I'm willing to pay, the seller does not have a crane so he needs to sub that out, I do wish now I would have let the seller handle the shipping but hind site is always 20/20.

I wish I’d have known you needed this. I’d have done it for you personally. I still could, but I’m going to take two weeks off starting tomorrow. I’ve run 35,000 miles straight and have a little road rash, so to speak.

I’ve worked with the same broker for nearly two decades, and Denver is a regular service area for them. Honest and professional people. You want me to get you in touch? Otherwise I could do it myself after the first. I’m assuming from the details that you’re looking for a standard flatbed, tarped equipment. From the rate it sounds like a full load 48,000 lb max.

Unfortunately the implementation of all the recent government regulations (elogs) have created a trucking shortage as many old guys just quit, and those of us that are left have seen our productivity tank. This is creating a bidding war, and rates have been going crazy in the last couple of months. I just delivered a load Jackson, TN to Phoenix, AZ. In Dec I was billing $4200, now this load was billed at $5,000, and they held it four days waiting on me. Thank you, Feds, I’m also a consumer. Roll Eyes

Our CNC routers (3 over 15 years) were delivered by flat bed, full load. It takes a nice size extendable boom truck crane on both ends. Enclosed trailers are not optimum. My son, Andy, has some experience with shipping CNC's. Email me for his #

BTW Mark, please ignore calls to resize aviators. I like the way your aviator's butt fills the screen then rapidly recedes Eek

I work for an LTL carrier. Right now the industry is experiencing a driver shortage and because of that, you will see some carriers drop a booked load to go with a better offer.

You mentioned it needs a crane to lift, will it have to go via flatbed? If so, that will rule out the typical LTL and TL carriers running 48’ or 53’ vans. You may ant to consider looking at 3rd party logistics companies who will broker it out: CH Robinson, Unishippers, Freightquote are just a few.

What size is the router table?

Weight? (Can it be fork lifted?)

Is the gantry removed?

Is the vac removed?

Is it crated?

Are you dock high? How wide is the door?

We move big heavy things every day without nary a problem. I had my last printer brought in three boxes and assembled in place.
