Major factor when I chose a dash camera, was U.S. support, with support reps who spoke actual American English.
There may be others, but the ones that I'm aware of are Garmin and Rove. I chose the Rove based on perceived bang for the buck, but having used a lot of Garmin aviation equipment, I would not hesitate to go with them, either.

BigSwedeI bought this one off Amazon.
https://www.vantrue.com/products/n2xIt has front and rear cameras, I change vehicles every few months, if not I would have a hard wired front and rear cam
I picked this one because I can see if it's working with the App and pull up videos with it

dry-flyYeah, dash cams are mandatory for our cars. It’s saved me more than once. Driving in the DFW area is getting atrocious.

This is Gwinnett County PD btw
That answers everything in my opinion! Wifey had somebody sideswipe her near Atlanta last year, and then blame it on her. Not sure if it was Gwinnett County of Cobb County. It was just a light touch, and the "damage" to the other driver's car was nothing more than a light scuff which would have buffed right out. She filed a claim against our insurance anyway... for over $6,000.00! The LEOs that came to the scene were mighty close to useless...
I also had words with State Farm about making such a huge payout for a minor scuff, and they said it was easier that fighting it! We changed to Progressive immediately, and our insurance dropped from over $200/mo to $68/mo.

Yes, people suck. For some reason, the police don't police anymore. They are scared of the minority for some reason. In my case, showing favoritism to a POS that makes no contribution to society.

Exactly the way it is here in the Huntsville area. The police do not do their job anymore, unless it's something really big. Traffic laws are completely ignored now, even with a cop in sight where they could witness running the light, or stop sign, or whatever. Speeding? Around here it's a frikkin' race track... literally! Noise issues? The cops don't care. My house is on the corner of two rather busy 2-lane roads, and the number of vehicles that fly by with WOT and no mufflers is simply horrendous, especially when it's at night when you're trying to sleep! I just filed a complaint over it to the MPD to see if anything happens. I'm not holding my breath...

4MUL8RI assisted at an accident much like the OP. The outcome of an unobserved accident is most likely the same as the OPs. This is because of no witnesses, only driver testimony, and limited vehicular evidence (tire marks, impact rotations, etc.).
One must recognize that a police officer may have a complete and rational understanding of the accident, and yet be unable to assert legally that person X was at fault.
In this accident, the driver truly at fault was disrespectful and derogatory towards the officer on scene. And the officer was the same gender! Many bad words were spoken to the officer. Injuries were feigned, and the EMTs transported the driver. The other driver was informed that fault was not ascribed to his actions.
Absent independent witnesses, a dash cam is needed. Even the passenger in the car, his wife, is not a valid witness as she was not independent.

One thing to always practice is keep your foot on the brake when you are stopped. Cellphone drivers only see red as a stopped vehicle and not the overall picture.
