You should get the sign that reads, "If You Can Read This You are in Range".

| I'm annoyed by those people too, but it worked out to my advantage one time. A couple people came around ringing doorbells, asking how old my roof was. I had no idea since I'd just moved into the place a few months before. They offered to do a free inspection, and they had their own ladders so I said OK. They said there were some damaged shingles (I wasn't surprised, it gets kinda windy here). I told them I wasn't interested in any repairs just then. They said that normally an insurance company will pay to replace the damaged ones but that's all. In this case, the existing shingles were of a color and type that isn't available anymore, so State Farm (after doing their own inspection to verify the damage) would pay for a full replacement instead. I was skeptical at first but it actually worked out that way. I got a new roof for just the $1,000 deductible.
That said, I'm seriously wanting to put a big "No Solicitors!" sign on the front porch. |

| The wife and I have a "NO SOLICITING" sign on our front door. A young kid (super polite and apologetic) rang our door bell and when I answered he asked if we needed a landscaper. I pointed to the sign and he said he knew but his boss was sitting down the street watching him. We both laughed and I wished him good luck. That's the only time that has happened since we put the sign up. |
