SAS Tactical Slide Milling

Rechawk55SAS Tactical Slide Milling
So, I find this outfit online (SAS Tactical) that does slide milling. I fill out the online form to get my Sig SP2022 milled. When I check out, they make it clear that canceling an order will result in forfeitures of some hefty percentage of your money, or after a certain period of time you only get store credit. These penalties are excessively harsh IMHO. I’m not worried because I have every intention of sending it in, so I shell out $141. In the meantime I do a trigger job and take it to the range to see how it performs. Unfortunately, I get the dreaded case head separation and the right side of my Sig polymer frame blows out. I write to SAS and cancel my order, explaining that I now have no gun to send in, and I include a pic of my gun. SAS agrees to refund my money, minus $32.50 for their trouble. What does it actually take to cancel it? Needless to say, I am pretty pissed off. I will never do business with them or any company that gouges you with these predatory fees.

Mustang-PaPa^^^^^ Guess he plans to single hand-idly take down SAS over $32.50 of which he agreed to the terms of.

Rechawk55Not trying to take them down, just bitching because $32.50 seems ridiculous to cancel an order.

Rechawk55And your point is? It’s called the bitching section. That’s what I did.

Why did you do business with them in the first place? You knew full well going in and agreed to their "excessively harsh" terms. Did you bitch, then? No! You registered only to bitch after you blew up your gun and had to cancel the order and received the penalty. Penalty which you agreed to in the first place. Yeah, this is the bitching section, but yours is ridiculously lame.

rscalzoWhat's your point. You were fully aware if the terms of servive and agreed to them. You thought they were "harsh" yet still agreed to them.
Suck it up and move on.

Rechawk55I reloaded 60 rounds of .40 S&W with TiteGroup powder (TiteGroup haters keep it to yourself) at 4.4 grains. On the 33rd shot it went kaboom and the right side of the Sig polymer frame opened up. Pretty ugly, but fortunately I was wearing safety glasses. There was no damage to any metal parts on that gun, just the frame.
I came home and pulled all of the remaining bullets and checked the charges. All were at, or slightly below 4.4 grains. I have a very reliable process for reloading and during this particular session, I used my RCBS Charge Master for added accuracy.
Then I inspected each case with my magnifier. Of the remaining 27 cases, I found micro-cracking around two of the case heads. I remembered that a shooting buddy gave me a bunch of .40 S&W brass about a year prior. I determined that case head separation was the cause of the kaboom, not a double charge load.
I learned an expensive and valuable lesson. Only reload known brass, new brass, or factory ammo.
As soon as I figure out how to upload an image (I’m new to this forum) I’ll show the cracked case heads I found.

Rechawk55Well thank you Master of the Obvious. Yes, I’ve already moved on cause there ain’t shit I can do about it. This forum has a bitch section and I used it. Your opinion has no added value.

Rechawk55Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum! You are right, it is called the bitching section for that very reason, but some people use it to bitch about other people's bitches. However, the last sentence of your OP says it all. Maybe you should have practiced what you preach.

Scooter123You read the terms of Service and still handed your money over. That was entirely your choice. Get over it and move on.
PS; that money was due to the cost for holding your place in line. There are so few shops doing this kind of work that every one of them is slammed. By cancelling an order now someone has to sit down and adjust his scheduling. Time spent when he could be working at a mill.
I've stopped counting.

Rechawk55Hey there dickhead - I didn’t cancel the order because I changed my mind, I canceled it because I had no gun left to send it. Most businesses would understand that. And, no one held a place in line for me. They don’t do that until they get the gun. Go troll some other sites. What an asshole!

Oh, you'll fit right in on this forum, with an attitude like that.

Mind your manners. Even when disagreeing on this forum try to be respectful.
You’ve had a hell of a first day! (TG reference)
You still could have sent the slide in for the work. Buy another gun and have not only spare parts but a milled slide to boot!
