| Stress is from being advanced too fast at my job, not sure I would want to undo that. Just take me another 3-4 months to get caught up to things. I can't complain too much, I got two spot bonuses this past week, a crap ton of attaboys, was told I had one of the best reviews on campus, and that I would be getting a promotion. So I'll take the good with the bad.

| No pain during the extraction, Novacaine has worn off and pain is mild and bleeding mostly stopped. Not looking forward to tonight or morning when it's supposed to be worse. Getting ready to try some soup. Cost was reasonable. $1,238 for remove and bone graft in one spot. They wrote off to what my insurance covered and only had to pay what was above my max coverage and for the graft (not covered at all).

I didn't drop the blade before preparing some small stock I was getting ready to use as inlay. 2.5" long gash that went into the bone. Thankfully, I didn't need surgery (it went lengthways not across), but it did require a trip to the ER.
3 hours and a dose of morphine in, I get told my insurance isn't accepted there. Well, crap. I'm still waiting to see exactly how this is going to shake out.
Make sure you're sitting down before you open the hospital bill. ER visits can be ridiculously expensive. I hit a deer on my motorcycle and suffered a broken leg, took Xrays, Cat Scan, ER doctor set the broken leg, put it in a splint, and I was held for a few hours while they monitored my vitals. Two weeks later received a bill from the hospital for almost 70 grand. |

| So far not too bad. Surgery was painless although I could hear them talking and the sound of something cracking in my jaw really loudly. Pain after removal was almost non existent, just some soreness. Been eating soups, oatmeal, and apple sauce all week. Last night I couldn't take it anymore ordered a plain cheese pizza, pizza has never tasted so good. Cost wasn't so bad either, five teeth removed, anesthesia, and bone graft was $1,300ish after using all of my dental benefits for the whole year, everything else will be fully out of pocket.

As far as I know the only discount I got was a friend of the family $300 off.

Mrs. Flash went to one dentist and got a quote similar to yours, around $15K for all sorts of "problems" she had.
Went to another dentist and he said all she needed was a cleaning.
Maybe that's not your case and maybe it is.
Does your dentist own a fishing boat? Are there offshore fishing magazines and pictures in the office? Similar situation for my wife, original dentist detected all kinds of issues, specialist dentists wanted thousands to do work on her. We went to the top rated dental office in the area for a second opinion. They disagreed, and it turned out none of those procedures were needed. Not saying your dentist is wrong, but get second opinions even third at those costs... |

They are always answered appropriately. I get asked about my fees and am not offended as long as it is done in a polite manner. BTW you have good dental insurance.
Orthodontist said I have good insurance too, but $2,000 lifetime for something that costs $6k doesn't seem too great to me. I did save an extra $400 by paying it all up front instead of paying it over a year. So out of pocket ends up being $3,600 all in, no matter what. Includes replacement retainers if I break mine. Also no charge if I can't do the Invisalign and need to switch to braces. Didn't even get a second opinion since my dentist told me average price is $6k and that was exactly what dude charged me. Not looking forward to next 12-18 months.

| Part two of deep cleaning today, and another $600 spent on my teeth. On a positive note they were able to remove some bone or tooth fragments that were poking through my gums from the wisdom tooth removals. One still remains but they said I would need the oral surgeon to get it if it bothers me that much, or I can wait til it pokes back through the gums again and they can remove it in house. Fun times.

| Yes, I'm a big dummy. I have dental insurance, but don't go in as often as I should. While flossing I knew something was up. Food was collecting between upper molars, I knew there was a cavity. Went to the same dentist I've had since high school (45 years!!). So he fixed a few small cavaties and filled with resin. Now the problem tooth. He predicted from the x rays that the decay may have entered the root and may need a root canal. He was surprised that there wasn't more pain. Sure enough I need a root canal. Referred me to an oral surgeon. Have appointment this wed, will only cost me about $400.00 out of pocket. Until then, over the counter Tylenol and penicillen . |

| OP I went through much the same lecture that concluding with “and then we saw your upper jaw loose and reset it correctly”. Besides the $46,000 dollar estimate it isn’t covered by insurance. Of course one must assume I plan on chewing anything with > $50,000 worth of dental work. I told them I don’t see a new pickup fitting in my mouth, I need to eat less anyway, but thank you for the diet support.
