When I lived in SoCal, I really enjoyed El Pollo Loco. Their grilled chicken was good and you could be an healthy or unhealthy as you wanted to be with their sides. There was one near my house and one near the office and I ate there at least 1x per week.

I was pretty happy when they came to Houston. They opened and their menu had seemed to de-emphasize their grilled chicken. It was a poorly run franchise, and once they were out of chicken at noon and twice they were out of chicken at 6:30 PM. Google and FB reviews were poor and full of people complaining about them not having meat during lunch or dinner. They're out of business now.

When I was working at the Lowes store in Manassas, we use to go there all the time for the roast beef and pile on the fixins bar. Big Grin Do you want roast beef on that fixins?? Eek

Then there were the cheap clowns that bought a drink and took their home made sandwich to the fixin bar and piled on the goodies. Mad

To be fair their "roast beef" doesn't have any real resemblance to roast beef in the first place. Roast beef shouldn't have bubbles in it. Big Grin

The half pound French Dip is still available, Potato cakes are back full time, and they just brought back ham a month ago. You can also get 4 Classic Roast Beefs for $10. If I forget to make lunch for work, I'm likely stopping there.

I remember the Five for $5 days at Arby’s.

I haven’t eaten there in years but the chicken cordon blue was my favorite. I can probably credit at least 20 extra pounds to them.

I don't think there is a single "Boston Market" left in the Boston area. They turned to dogshit when the name changed. I don't think I've ever eaten at an Arby's, but damn corporate bullshit sure can ruin restaurants.

They have a decent simulacrum of a Greek gyro sandwich, with actual bits of real lamb in it. That sandwich can also be had in the roast beef.

For a while they had a 3-for-$5 deal, with choices of several "slider"-sized sandwiches, curly or crinkle fries or medium drinks, but that didn't last long. (I don't think it was intended to.)

We lost our local Arby's years ago. When the wife was working and commuted and she would get me Arby's when I asked.
They have a really good BBQ sliced briquet with little onion rings on it and damn it was yummy for a non bbq joint.
Like the french dip also.
Pretty much got burned out on the std roast beef years ago. Can stand one every once in awhile doctored up with the Arby's and horsy sauces.
Damn I’m getting hungry for some Arby's now. Neighbor/good friend works UPS nights and commutes daily. May have to arrange a lunch delivery soon. Smile

I’ll still eat an Arby’s occasionally, but I remember when the franchise was first introduced, and it was real roast beef. The restaurants actually had a glassed in roaster with beef hanging from chrome chains in there. Now I’m afraid even the jamocha shakes have declined in quality.
