V-TailJabra Hearing Aid Problem
Left hearing aid functions properly.
Yesterday, the right hearing aid went from 100% charge to 10% in about four hours of use, and shut itself off due to low power.
It has been in the charger for 24 hours now. Charged to 50% in the first hour or two, and has been stuck at 50% since then.
Fairly new hearing aids from Costco, less than six months. Still under warranty, but the money-back period has expired.
Anybody have any ideas re the charging problem? User manual and internet search both failed to tell me anything useful.
Costco website indicates that the hearing aid department is open on Sunday, so if not solved before then, it will be a trip to Costco tomorrow.
I thought that the rechargeable type would be more convenient than the previous set that had replaceable batteries. Silly me.

Silence is golden (most of the time).

GustoferMine are Costco Rextons. Haven't had a problem charging mine...yet. Do you have another charger that you could try? Mine came with a little portable jobber that's good for several full charges.

NontypicalI don’t have Costco brand, but I have Oticons. Rechargeable lithium batteries can go bad from time to time and will stop taking a charge. It definitely sounds like that is what happened to yours. I’m sure they will make it right.

PHPaulI've had to return my Phonaks for repair twice due to the same sort of issue.
I think the problem is that rechargeable batteries have a service life. On mine, the right earpiece is the "master" and pulls a bit more power than the left. Both times, the right earpiece died on me and wouldn't recharge.
Another (unproven) suspicion is that they have a limited number of charge/discharge cycles. I used to pop them in the charger during my hour-long daily naps. After this most recent repair, I've stopped doing that and just putting them in the charger at night. They last fine without the mid-day recharge. Curious to see if that extends the time between (what I assume are...) battery replacements.

True, but these hearing aids are less than six months old.
When depleted to 10%, the right one charges quickly to 50% and then stays at that level. The left one charges to 100%.

41Can you measure the voltage at full charge on each hearing aid or charge each aid in the same charger?
I have had charging ports that charged to different levels.

I had one go bad 2 months in. It happens. They both have been replaced a few times in the last 4 years under warranty.

SpinZoneI would start with an early failure of the battery as well. It hits the most likely and easiest points.
Did you get by Costco Sunday? What did they say?
