Speaking of Old Man Issues
I'm losing it...

Stopped by NAPA today to pick up some belts for a snowblower project my Grandson and I are doing.

"While I'm here," says I, "I'll pick up a case of grease seeing as I'm out." So I bought a $54.90 + tax case of grease.

Got home, lugged it down to the shop (used to store it in the garage) and set it on the welding table and scratched my head thinking "Where shall I store this?" and looking around.

"Saaaay, how about up there on that shelf...right next to the brand new case of grease I forgot I had..." Roll Eyes Frown

Fortunately, I kept the receipt because I'm not at all sure the belts will fit either. Used the best measurements I could get, plugged them into a belt calculator and added a fudge factor the the clutch mechanism.

A case of grease is a 2 year supply around here and I can use the $54.90 a lot more than an extra case of grease.

I do this all the time.
I have several cabinets filled with endless tubes of caulk, spray paint, sealants, tubes of various grades of grease, Oatey cements, copper fittings, etc.

Every time I do a project, I seem to buy the same things over and over, forgetting that I might have them stored in a box or a drawer or a tote somewhere.

Oh look, Simple Green in a spray bottle. Buy it, take it home, put it on the shelf next to the half full bottle I refill from the 1 gallon jug on the bottom shelf. DOH

Duct tape....

Many years ago, I went to the clearance section and they had Fram oil filters for $1.20. I bought every 3600 and 16 that they had.

Every now and then I will get a filter with my oil, even though I have enough filters left over to welcome the astronauts back from Mars.

I have been known to buy a holster only to discover the exact same holster in my holster drawer.

Memory problems start in your 40s and progress over time. Generally slowly but sometimes quickly. It is not always a sign of Dementia. If you are concerned see a Neuropsychologist. The test that Trump talks about is on the level of something you might see in Redbook or Cosmo. There are many aspects of cognitive functioning other than memory. The VA is pretty good at this because there are a substantial number of vets with Traumatic Brain injuries.

I don’t recall if I posted about this before ( Wink ), but as mentioned the VA offers cognition/dementia testing. It can be something we don’t really want to know, but because despite being old (80 yo), I’m also employed part time and I felt I should know if anything could affect what I consider to be an important job.

Not only was the overall test result good (“no indications of dementia”), I was able to ask questions about specific concerns I had. I feel very fortunate about what I learned, but even if it had been bad, it would have been better to know that sooner than later.
