My cat that passed a few years ago had the worst ear wax problem I've seen in a cat. About once a month I had to wrap her in a towel, put ear wax drops in her ears, massage her ear canals, and run like hell. Sweetest cat in the world unless you put ear wax drops in her ears, and massaged her ear canals. Only a fool would attempt it twice sans towel.
In a day or two she returned to being a belly cat (she was a cuddler and the lap was too far away for her), and her happy go lucky attitude.
