mr kablammoEnough with the cat pictures
If anyone in Austin wants a free kitten there is one at my apt now. A female icallico estimated at 3 months. Very well behaved and socialized. I would bring igt in but did that before and got fleas.

It pains me to think of all the unwanted cats and dogs in the world, but any one person can do so very little about this.
I hears ya. I don't know why black cats seem to get a bad rap, but as someone who has adopted 2 of them in the past, I can tell you they are sweeties. I think it may have something to do with the fact that black cats are actually tabbies, known for their gentle and forgiving temperments (if you look closely, you can actually see the stripes underneath the blackness).

ChowserI love black cats. 3 of my cats right now are black.
The oldest (wow, she's probably not that old, only 15 years old) showed up with a can of food on our porch on Halloween night. Needless to say, she stayed and we named her Boo.
Someone knew what they were doing when they dropped her off with food.

Typical. Over engineered and too expensive. iCat from Apple.

Not very long ago I could not figure out all these pet people's here.
Blah , blah blah, my dog this , my cat that.
this place has changed me in a huge way , I get it now.
And yes it does damage me a bit when you guys post those animal cruelty news stories or when someone posts about their dog or cat passing or having to go on that last trip to the vet.
Ive become very close to Rose, the nine pound puppy that Bonnie got .
We get both of her dogs treated at the No Kill shelter , and we are glad to donate on a regular basis

Some people have strange superstitions.
It's silly. I've never known a black cat that wasn't as friendly as a puppy, but maybe it's just me.
The supermajority of the time I agree, but my aunt and uncle had an indoor black cat that wasn't friendly. Only cat I've ever met in my life that didn't like me, and it barely liked my aunt and uncle.
true about the color, local animal league/shelters have a hard time adopting them out,
we picked up a jet black kitten on labor day, she rolled down and embankment and infront of the wife's car,,
no one would claim her in the houses in the area (less than 1/4 mile from our home) so we did,
thinking she was tossed from a car, she had a bloody scuff mark on her chin ,
very friendly cat, and fearless
Same with black dogs.
Even labradors. People perceive black labs as different than yellow labs and think they are more aggressive for some reason.
Shelters say that they have a much more difficult time adopting black dogs as well.

Il CattivoThat's truly weird. We've had black, yellow, and chocolate labs, and the black labs have historically been the smartest, sweetest, most patient dogs (especially with kids!) I've ever seen.

Our 3 year old, 18 lb. black cat is Henry who just appeared on our property as a kitten and has been an indoor kitty ever since. He's the gentlest cat, most laid back animal we have.

Paragonwe have three black cats. The mom and two of her daughters. One is tail-free. I love black cats.
Some are very mouthy, though.

We have one rescue dog who would have been whacked if we had not taken her. My age, physical disability, the need to work, and limited time, preclude us taking on another one, but we do what we can.

He is a super cool looking cat. I am very partial to Torties, but my next kitten very well may be a little black panther.
