Closet rods brackets - the supports for the rods that are provide support for the rod and closet shelves. Does each make/model have to be a different size? Why? Why can't all these big boys just standardize to one size, or at least allow for some minor reasonable adjustments? But no, every support has to be different dimensions for some fucking reason. All I wanted to do was add more support for the closet rod. The supports were spaced every 2-3 studs so I wanted to add some more. I bought some supports - they were basically the right shelf depth. But no, the hook for the rod was lower such that the rod wouldn't even touch metal - gap of about 1" between rod and the support. Since I couldn't find the make/model of the support already in place, I had to buy a whole set. And then remove and replace the existing ones, not just add new ones. And then, because the rod was sitting lower, I had to move the end supports (U bracket) at the ends of the rod. I also bought another set, same make but different model. But supposedly same dimensions. But no, these are also different then other new ones I bought - the hook is a bit shallower such that the support doesn't reach the wall if the rod is in the hook. Needs another 1/2" to reach the wall. Seriously, this ain't rocket science. Is it really that hard for these guys to converge on single standard? At least products by the same company? Lesson learned - If I want to add or replace a closet rod support, expect to do all of them, plus the end supports. Can't just add or replace a single support. I often take broken or weak closet rods and supports and make my own system using inch threaded galvanized pipe. I use threaded floor flanges on the walls of the closet and a three way tee in the middle of the rod to brace down to the floor for strength. If I need more support, I swap out the 3 way tee for a 4 way and add another brace to the back wall of the closet. Heavy. Ugly. And you can hang your heaviest stuff on a closet system like this, built to your specs. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

We are in what would be considered a pretty high-end finished house for the area, with very nice cabinetry in the closet. Even there, they used steel pipe in those slotted wooden wall mounts. I like it! You only have integrity once. - imprezaguy02
