Doggone it, man! Roll Eyes

We use painter's tape at work for Sharpie-marking notes on assemblies after testing and before shipping, because it stays put well, comes off easily, doesn't leave residue, and is just generally convenient.

Crew asked me yesterday on the way out to pick up a few more rolls. Easy to do. Bought four rolls on the way home and didn't think another thing about it.

My crew leader came to me this morning and said, "the tape you bought has writing on it already." Early-morning brain spun quickly and said, "Huh? What? Somebody's written on it? It's wrapped! How did that happen?" We chatted for a second and I figured I'd just go exchange the written-on roll at lunchtime. Or perhaps I can just peel off a few feet, right? How far into a roll could someone have written?

Then I got back to my desk and found the rolls the crew leader had brought back over. It's not that someone has written on it -- it's that the tape is covered in Scotch's PROSharp logo printed every inch or two. "Oh!" Early-morning brain said. "Now I understand better."

But now I have to make another trip "across the river" to go return these and look for some plain, "un-logoed" tape. I understand Scotch wants to advertise, and if I were using the tape for its intended purpose, it wouldn't be a bother at all.

I guess this is more of a vent than a rant. No need to get terribly worked up over it, right? Smile

I hate that shit, too. We buy it mainly for marking things w/a sharpie, rarely for painting.

Scotch probably marked it because they know the bootleg brands are shit. Sucks for your use though.
