randymanWhat's the worst part of getting old...
These damn Medicare assistance solicitors that call. I get 10-15 calls a day. The last call came from a number in India. I threaten them with charges for violating the No Call list. I tell them (lie) that their records are wrong. I'm sure that some of these call are fraud/scam/ID theft attempts.
Does anyone have an airhorn I can borrow?

m1009I don’t answer the phone unless I recognize the number, or the message is one I need to answer. Saves lots of time. Just have to put up with phone ringing.

V-TailTalk to them. Be friendly. Have a nice chat. Ask lots of questions about their product. To insure accuracy, ask the same question several times. If they use a term that is not familiar to you, ask how to spell it.

ensigmaticEver since we moved our phone over to a VoIP service the telespam calls have been greatly reduced. The remainder: We simply ignore calls from numbers we don't recognize. We do the same on our mobile phones.

mcrimmOne of these asshole spoofed a guy with my cell number. The guy called me and asked me why I called him. Dah.....unless 555-1212 calls, it’s someones number.
I'm sorry if I hurt you feelings when I called you stupid - I thought you already knew - Unknown

just1tymI have a Medicare Advantage Plan with Medica Ins and no matter how many times I've blocked their phone calls that left messages, they call from another location in another state. They're trying like hell to push their home health care where one of their reps come to your home for a visit and takes your BP and reviews your meds and doctors recommendations...NO THANKS AND PLEASE STOP CALLING ME!!!!!

Yeah, I don't understand the frustration folks get. I get tons of calls a day that are unknown to me. Ignore every single one of them. Even better, after 3 rings, it automatically goes to fax mode.

BisleyblackhawkYep...I agree that those Medicare calls, answered or not, are annoying...but they don't come close to being the worst part of getting old

.38supersig...would be realizing that it sure beats the alternative.
As far as the calls go, I have a load coil detector. The solicitor usually has a headset. Yup! They don't stay on the line for long.

shovelheadI use a circa 1969 Western Electric Touch-Tone phone and press multiple buttons in different combinations. Those old Bell System phones will tone as long as you hold the button down.
I should ask for commissions on their hearing aids afterwards.

No shit..
I was going to say the arthritis in my knees...

I don't have a landline.
But Robokiller on my cell phone has knocked out a lot of unwanted calls.
As others have stated, if I don't know the number (not in my contacts), I don't answer the phone..

FredwardI'd like an option on my phone to block all calls not on my address/phone list.

phydoughNo, the
worst part of getting old is not being able how to remember to block those calls. It was only explained to me several times, but when I grabbed the phone to do it......poof, memory gone.
