Political Harassment
I have already voted via early voting mother fuckers! These fucking people text me 10-15 times a day. I get several phone calls per day also, as well as voicemails because I don’t answer the shit. They send snail mail. Will now every single day there is political shit in the mailbox. And, get this, ringing my fucking door bell leaving political ads on the fucking door! I have a bought “no soliciting” sign on the door and that don’t stop them either. I’ve answered the door once and the guy is arguing with me stating “I’m not selling anything.” I said fuck you, you are selling a political candidate. Nobody is going to go door knock if they aren’t selling something. I said go sell that shit over there at Chik Fil A, cuz it’s not selling here. And get the fuck off my property or I’m going to call the Police.

I’ve had it! Try to watch YT, and political ads. Try to turn on some kind of sports on the weekend for a distraction, from you know work, chores, life..and political ads! I guess once the election is over a whole bunch of marketing and advertising people are going to be out of a fucking job.

I’ve never seen it like this or this bad. It’s straight up harassment. It’s about time for me to change my phone number and use a data broker erasure service. It’s just time. This is obscene.

Do you have a minute to discuss your cars warranty?

Phone calls, texts, Youtube ads- there are ways to mitigate all these things. On my iPhone, calls are screened. If you're not in my address book, calls don't ring through. You have to tell Mister Computer why you're calling, and then I'll get a prompt on my phone, but it usually doesn't get to that point; they just hang up, and I know this because I went from several such calls a day, to none.

Texts- iPhone (and I suppose Android OS as well) allows you to screen texts. Most of the nuisance texts I received were "We want to buy your house" or put on a new roof, or hey we offer tree work, or whatever. I get none of that anymore. No exaggeration. None.

Youtube? uBlock Origin. Chrome prevents you from installing this plugin now, but Firefox allows it, and I'll bet Brave does as well. I see no ads, literally none. Don't believe me? Try it. Install uBlock Origin. It may require a bit of tweaking, but I think the latest versions are so tweaked, you just need to add it to your browser and make sure it's on. Firefox, not Chrome.

Landline? Can't help you, but that's not where the static is.

How to screen texts on iPhone

Screen and block phone calls on iPhone

uBlock Origin for Firefox

Listen to ol' Para and be happy.

Unless you get a new, never before issued phone number then you'll still get the calls and maybe something like I experienced in Can-eh-duh. The Canadian cell company issued me a recycled phone number and the previous "owner" of the number used to have a tow truck service. Even worse, he was apparently a bargain so his name and number was plastered over all of the car restoration forums.

I'd politely tell people this number was no longer a tow truck company and no I don't have his new number, but several people tried to tell me the story of their restoration project against my will. It's not a conversation that interests me so I'd interrupt them which seemed to upset them.

I ended up Googling my phone number every few weeks, signing up for at least a dozen car forums, and replying to posts asking them not to give out the number for the out of business tow truck.

Unsolicited people at the door- I either don't answer or open and Say "No Thank you" and close.

I feel like it's just as frequent after voting.

Big Grin

Back when i used to get these calls, I had just bought a project replica 1957 Lotus 7.
Made these calls fun. They'd ask "what year is the last car you bought?" Threw off their script when I said 1957.

Every cycle seems to be the worst ever. I guess I could try doing a long-term scientific research study of the frequency of the calls, comparing each election cycle, but I don't think I could stomach the work
.

I have all the screening set up and for a long damn time. Phone calls don’t ring my phone. The missed calls just show up without ever ringing. Same for the voicemails. I just have to press missed calls to clear it, and delete the voicemails.

The texts get screened too. But I still have to report as spam and delete. Both require manual intervention. It’s just annoying when it’s 10 times a day. Probably 10-15 texts per day and at least 5 phone calls.

Snail mail goes in the trash as does the door placards.

And those placards. Got damn. They ring the door bell in the middle of my work day. The other day this dude would put it on your door then run to a truck and jump on the back bumper. Standing up on the back. Reminded me of a scene in the Road Warrior. If they dude hat a bat or weapon in his hand I would have been looking for the Iotala of Rock N rolla. Chanting “Give me the GAS!”

YouTube I just block the ads but I use the App so I have to click block/report.

Maybe I should make my own placard that says “I already voted R across the board so fuck you.” And perhaps put that on my voicemail message too. But then again work calls my phone and I don’t want to upset the neighbors. One more week of this bullshit.

Do you need home improvement? Windows? Roof? < all said in a thick foreign accent.

I get 20 calls a day from scammers; most are robots on the other end and not real people. I have been blocking numbers for the better part of two years and still get the calls. This is on a landline; not a cell phone.

Unfortunately working from home means between certain hours I have to answer the call just in case.

Yeah Lizard they almost got me on that. I filed a trademark with the USPTO. It’s a long drawn out process and expensive. I get an email that looks 100% legit. They state they need some information. And you do indeed have to give information going through the TM process. Turns out, upon hearing the Indian voice, they wanted my social media account(s). At that point I knew this was some bullshit. I don’t have, nor have I ever had “social media” and told the idiot this. Then hung up the phone. So scammers are up on that as well. There is no bottom floor they won’t stoop to.
