I mean, the content is good, but the effort is high!

P.S. No matter what thank you for punctuation and paragraphs!

You call me a bot (an insult) when you can look at the join date, etc, answer your own question, and not do an insult then you ask additional questions to boot? Eek

Some of us have high IQ’s and posts like that take 2-3 minutes to type. I take shits longer than that post took. Wink

Good post Prefontaine.
I'm not going pay todays prices for crap I don't need or want. I'm going to be in the market for a 68-72 Chevy not restored. 2 doors bench seat and a long useful bed. Only need to adjust the seat once, I can crank a window down. You can sit on the fender with your feet in the engine bay to work on it.
And I miss cozy wings, cruising along get hit in the chest by a bumblebee and it falls down between your legs. Eek

Knew a lady years ago who had a full size GMC pickup. She was single when she bought it and kept it for the first few years of being married and having 1 child. They were a 1 car family so the husband would drop her off at work and drive downtown to Chicago from the south suburbs to work as a commercial painter. This truck got maybe 15 mpg. They were spending a lot of money on gas, so much that they decided to get a used Honda Accord as his commuter vehicle since he had the longer commute. Financing a used car, insurance and gas saved them hundreds a month.

I tend to road trip in my cars so I want the comforts. Everyone else in the Army likes to fly but I drive. Drove from Orlando to San Francisco for a 2 week course. Most guys flew. The combination of me hating flying and loving to drive make it an easy choice.

I remember a couple years ago buying a 3 pound package of bacon at Sam’s Club for $17 and now it’s around $24.

15 years ago you could buy a new Civic or Corolla for $12k. Now they’re double that. You could also buy a running car for $1,200. Those days are long gone. Frown

Last time I bought bacon at Costco was maybe a month or two ago. Three pounds (two 1.5 lb. packs, sold as a single unit) of Kirkland Signature thick sliced bacon was less than half of the $24 that you paid at Sam's Club for three pounds.

Cars today are so expensive because there are so overloaded with useless gewgaws that are completely unnecessary. I can remember when a Ford F100 road like a brick with the bed empty and it was 3 gears on the floor without any radio, AC, and a heater fan with just two speeds, slow and slower. On the plus side you could beat that heck out of it and that old straight six would just keep on ticking along like a Swiss watch. They also tipped the scales at about 3000 lbs. if my memory is correct.

I have a number of vehicles and they all run like a Swiss watch. It’s just more complicated than that.

Vehicles are expensive today due to many factors. One being that most of the idiot vehicle buyers in America buy for image and status.

Meanwhile I keep ticking along in a 2019 Fiesta ST. It takes me back to the days when I drove a 1970 VW Beetle which featured a 65 HP flat four and would do 0-60 in 14.3 seconds. The notable difference is the darned electric windows, a 197 HP engine under the hood and the ability to do 0-60 in 6.8 seconds. BTW, most people have no idea at all of the convenience of windows where you could dial in the opening for that perfect balance of fresh air, sound, and convenience. I've resigned myself to looking for a used one in nice condition when too many Michigan winters puts this one out of commission.

I've stopped counting.
