Waffle House
Now has no indoor dining on weekends after 11:00 (I think). They have added two walk up windows and a mandatory 20% tip on carry out meals.

All of Indianapolis as I am told.
Just happened to be there at 6 AM after the hospital fiasco

They probably couldn't keep enough reliable servers to work overnights. Not really surprising.

There is always Denny's.

Denny's is like a Waffle House for people who don't know how to fight.

I wouldn’t buy food from any establishment that charged 20% on carry out.

Not that that makes it right, but they have had this policy for many years. The walk-up windows an no "wee hours" dine-in is new, though.

Nothing surprises me anymore, and certainly not this.

How many fights with drunk ass holes have been had at these places all over the US? I mean I’ve seen it with my own eyes a few decades ago when we were young, and partying. But back then there was more self regulation by society. Now? Gen Z is completely out of hand, entitled, narcissistic, and will raise hell if they think they are slighted. If you were a company like this, you’d probably come to the same conclusion. People don’t know how to act anymore and they are done with the bullshit. I don’t agree with the tip thing but understand why they don’t want to be open at drunk hours with drunks as customers who are rude, entitled, and quick with the fire.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

I’m on the side of WF as far as the 20% carryout fee goes. WF is not designed or set up to be a carry out like your corner Asian place. You’re lucky if there are 3 employees in there - a cook and 2 servers, and sometimes only 1 server. During busy times they are slammed trying to satisfy the dine-in crowd. Once it slows down those same 2-3 people have to do all the clean-up and dishwashing. Dealing with carry-out takes them away from the dine-in/tipping customers. It means they have to cook for someone not in there, and take time to package up the meal and ring it up, and based on the SF tipping tread, won't receive a voluntary tip from many of you. So, WF the company is the only one making money on the carryout. Also, I’m pretty sure the servers share their tips with the cook. WF is one place I overtip because I know those employees need it and work for it.

I beg to differ.

Walk up window seems to mean they should be set up for carry out.

^^^ Haha, that's a great video.

1. Nothing wonderful happens at the Waffle House after dark.

2. Except at 2am when your still-half-drunk friend asks the sweet young lady behind the counter, "do you have any pancakes?" Big Grin Big Grin

(To conclude the story, Sweet Young Lady looked quizzically at Still Half Drunk Friend and said -- in her beautiful deep south accent -- "um... it's the Waffle House."

The rest of us all got a great laugh out of that. Smile

God bless America.

Nothing good happens after midnight, especially at Waffle House. Enter at your own risk, these are in the nighttime. Flying chairs! I don't blame Waffle House for restricting nighttime hours over the weekend. Savages with no self control.
