The one that has the on going medical issues. The poor kid just can’t catch a freaking break. On top of everything else he has going on he had to get braces a couple months ago.
Still trying to get used to them and still being adjusted and he does not eat much like he used to.
Well, today all our boys and the neighbor kids were playing basketball in the court and he tripped.
Well he did not get his hands out in time and caught his fall with his face straight into the pavement.
Big cuts and gashes to his forehead, cheek, going to have a crazy black eye in the morning, braces sliced the inside of his upper lip, scraped his leg, knee, and elbow.
To top it off it ripped all but two of the braces off his teeth and were just dangling in his mouth.
Looks like the Easter Bunny beat the ever loving snot out of him.
Luckily we’re friends with his orthodontist, I sent a picture of him and she said see you at the office in 30 minutes.
Mouth is all fixed up with no damage to his teeth thankfully but she had to take off all the braces and start new.
Face is certainly going to be sore for most of Spring Break.

This poor kid has been through so much in the past few years. I really really wish something good would happen for him.

Playing high school basketball one of the guys on the team got elbowed and it stuck his cheek to his braces. He literally had to reach in his mouth and pull sections of his cheek off his braces.

His ortho gave him a wax to put on his braces to keep that from happening again but I’m not sure if they still do that.

Hopefully your son will turn the corner and get a break.

Dang! Hope this gets rid of his yakudoshi and it's all up and better henceforth.

That's gotta hurt. Can't imagine having braces and falling in your face. At least, the braces didn't get broken.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Black,

What’s he into? Would he be opposed to an anonymous gift and a written letter? I don’t know if kids still like that shit but I do Big Grin

A little pick me up.

Much appreciated and just another testament as to why this place is so great. Along with this gesture I have also gotten a few emails asking how he is doing.

I/we appreciate it very much but it’s not necessary. He’s living it up at the in-laws while the other boys are here at home with Mama since it’s Spring Break and I am working.
He’s kind of using it as an excuse to escape his wild brothers and get babied by my mother in law.

The saga continues!
He woke up this morning with his eye swollen shut, very difficult to open, when it is open his vision is blurry, and the eye waters profusely.
This is the side of the face that took the brunt of the concrete hit.

He was doing pretty well yesterday said he wasn’t hurting anymore but his eye was watering a lot.

In my 30 years of ortho practice, I saw plenty of injuries to kids with braces on. In some cases, there was no doubt that the appliances helped to spread out the impact enough to prevent loss of the teeth. Of course, soft tissue injuries are often greater due to cuts inside the lip.

My God, this is giving me PTSD. I HATED my braces.
Nothing this bad happened, but God, did they suck!

My braces probably saved my teeth. Car wreck, passenger side, my buddy literally hit a house while accelerating (panicked). I hit the dashboard full on. I bled but I didn’t lose any teeth.
