One would think that as big as they are and with their concerted effort to solidly compete with amazon, that their website search function would be somewhat competent. Well my knock around the house slip-ons had worn through their footbed exposing the honeycomb underneath (Skechers EW FWIW). Not a candidate for any aftermarket foot support inserts. They're in the trash bin. So off I went doing my do diligence with all the usual suspects for men's footwear. I wear a EEEE width which presents a challenge. To the point, WallyWorld is the shits with their online shoe shopping. Trying to get valid responses to searches in my size was like asking for the Deep State to wither and die immediately. I worked logistics side of Walmart for 13 years. They’re still using legacy software from 40 years ago and every time they’re forced to upgrade something they just shoehorn it into the rest of the clusterfuck of software. Amazon has them terrified and the people in charge of planning the future are so far beyond incompetent it makes government planning seem genius.

You are not alone. Substantial money is spent on websites that do not meet the needs of customers. Many times I just decide I can do without. Surprisingly smaller retailers have better website search functions.

Working the Loss Prevention side for seven years, i can say they have only moved away from the SMART system in the last 2 or so years, and it was a DOS system. Walmart keeps up their relevance in most areas but the tech tools they give associates to work with are the absolute worst. It takes years of “new thing coming” claims, then when new program comes, it is rolled out too fast, then scaled back or cancelled for another new thing. But some things just havent been overhauled in decades. From the LP side, they just rolled out a new database for shoplifting suspects this last quarter. And its a mess. In many ways, its worse than the old one. An “improvement” that is equally as disorganized and convoluted and glitchy but in all new ways. Yeah, walmart’s tech side is garbage. ____________________________ While you may be able to get away with bottom shelf whiskey, stay the hell away from bottom shelf tequila. - FishOn
