My mom has always been on the liberal side, but has swallowed the Kool Aid hard after a year of quarantine and being at home watching CNN and NBC. Complete and total TDS.

After the capital protests she emailed me and my brother to chastise us for being on the side of hate, etc etc. I ignored it. My brother responded and told her off and she proceeded to call him, send him crap to his work email, etc to the point it hit a head when she called and demanded he listen to her tirade but said she would not listen to anything he had to say. so he hung up. They haven't spoken since.

I spoke with her a few days later, started the conversation by saying I refuse to discuss anything and we had a decent conversation.

Friday she emails my wife and tells her to have me call her because she has things to talk about. I didn't call her back until the next morning and she says I'll call you later I'm not ready to talk now. After I think about it a bit, I send her an email back saying I don't want to talk about any of it for a few days. I'm super stressed lately, to the point even my wife said she's worried about my health. So I VERY nicely said your my mom, I love you, let's not do this.

So she responds that I support hate, I'm teaching my son hate, where did she go wrong, etc. So she wanted a response, and got one. And now we aren't speaking and it's all nasty. Damn liberal mental illness

I skimmed through CNN today, work trip, no Fox News. The amount of editorializing the story was off the charts, the reporterette & any guest they had.

Anyone who watches & believes that drivel has an extreme case of TDS & mental instability.

When needed I block people on my phone, even family members. This may be a good time to block her.

Due to the fact you can't reason with this type of person, about the only thing you can say is to tell them that it's quite evil to accuse family members of racism as a way to try to manipulate and have power over them.

I have a very good friend I have known for twenty years. He is a very left leaning liberal and I an a conservative.

We agreed many years ago that we were not going to talk politics.
When we had political discussions years ago he would not even listen to an opposing opinion. He was right and everybody else was wrong.

So we decided we would not talk politics.

So far it has worked out, however, we will see. Hopefully things will not change in our friendship.

I was the only republican in our house growing up. My whole family including me worked worked in the Union constructions trades our whole and never asked for a thing. We were also raised with traditional family values.

So I have no idea where she came into play and started believing this white guilt, white privilege, leftist ideology. Then throw in the whole alternative whackadoodle lifestyle where everyone gets to pick who they want to be is ridiculous. You cannot talk to her regarding anything remotely conservative or traditional.

As an example: My whole family served in the military: On my moms side it was Navy and on my fathers it was the Army going back to the Cavalry days. I am fighting like hell to stay in because of hearing and age but my sister thinks its not fair that Trans people cannot serve. So their.0001% should trump the other 99+%. who are serving.

Now this is a college edumacated women, but she has no rational thinking skills anymore and thinks Kamala Harris is the greatest politician ever chosen.

I got attacked at Christmas by a relative- out of the blue. I got up and left the room after I realized there was no way to reason with them. Sadly, they decided to follow and harass some more, and got both barrels. We’ve since made up, but sadly, the taste still lingers.

Everyone has enough on their plate these days without being force fed more shit. I’m really sorry your mom is adding to your stress. Hopefully, she’ll come around and realize it’s not helping anything, much less your family bonds.

There is no reasoning with your mom. The best thing is to remain consistant, and as soon as she starts, tell her that you will not discuss politics with her, so if she starts discussing politics you will hang up, if she would like to talk about anything else, you'd be more than happy to talk to her. If she starts with politics hang up, but be 100% consistent. No sense getting riled up over someone who's unreasonable.

I have cast many friends and family members out of my social circle due to this type of deranged behavior.

My sister is also a massive socialist liberal. But we just agreed long ago to never discuss politics. My mom and I frequently have arguments over gun control policy, etc. But this is something very different, this was a visceral attack on me personally, and my brother. Who we are as father's and sons and people.

She's my mom, so I didn't want this. I've always had a good relationship with her, we are very different people, but she's my mom and she was a good mom and She's a wonderful grandmother to my son. To see her go down this slide into CNN mental illness land is just hard.
