Help! Help! I'm being repressed! |
I want to mail a contact lens rebate form in. The envelope contains 4 proof of purchase clipped off the boxes. My scale says it's 4.85ish ounces. How many "Forever" stamps is that? I can't seem to find an answer on their website. But I did see where I could find out more information about shipping day old poultry...WTF?

I saw this, second bullet point says the forever stamp is good for one ounce. https://about.usps.com/news/fa...ever-stamp-facts.htm

Shit don't mean shit |
I think the limit for a .66 cent stamp, first class letter is 3.5 Oz. Throw 2 stamps on it? https://www.usps.com/ship/firs...charge%20may%20apply.

What? No. A single first class stamp gets you the first ounce. Anything over 3.5 ounces is no longer the first class letter rate. See here: https://pe.usps.com/text/dmm30...czOC4wLjAuMA..#_c037 -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A

Maybe check on a new scale or put aside that metal envelope? WTH? You only have integrity once. - imprezaguy02

Don't Panic |
one standard 'first ounce' Forever stamp, and four 'additional ounce' forever stamps. From a cost perspective, 5 oz. first class requires $1.62 worth of postage [1x 'first ounce' ($0.66) and 4x 'additional ounce' ($0.24/ea) = $1.62] If you didn't want to bother getting 'additional ounce' stamps, you could put on three 'first ounce' stamps which, at 3x $0.66 = $1.98, would total a bit over the $1.62 that USPS expects for a 5 ounce mailpiece.

Many, but not all, post offices have a self serve postage mailing center machine in the lobby. It's running 24/7, pay by credit card, etc. NO need to wait for the post office room/windows to open and wait for the surly clerks to decide to finally wait on someone. If your post office, or another nearby, has one you can just pop in and start the machine as if you want to use it for postage and shipping, then get to the part where it will weigh it and tell you how much postage is needed. Then you'd know. I use these all the time, in fact I've got to mail a 2 day priority mail envelope later today. I like going early in the morning or later in the evening and thus avoid the horde at the post office counter/windows. .
