wishfull thinkerWell, that's annoying - COVID side effect?
I got hit hard with the conditions consistent with the diagnosis frequently referred to as Long-Covid.
I can smell smoke. That's it, nothing else. My taste is reduced to the point where it is almost not there. Two Covid assaults were three years ago and I'm advised that the conditions are probably permanent. There are others too. I didn't do well with Fauci's flu.

mark60I was about 4 months without taste or smell when I had it. It made roasting coffee a little harder but in the end it didn't matter, I couldn't taste it anyway.

oddballBack during Christmas in 2019, I had the worst flu ever. Typically a 24-48 hour variety, this one lasted 7 days, all in bed, with severe body aches, headaches, coughing, etc, all before the lockdowns and masks. The opinion of my doctor months later, it was Covid. In the aftermath, my sense of taste and smell noticeably diminished, but returned back to normal by the end of winter. Never got Covid-19 again.

1KPerDayHopefully your sense of taste/smell comes back. Mine did, though It's a little muted.
When I had Covid everything with meat in it tasted like literal garbage. And although I usually like moderately spicy food (like medium heat indian food, jalapeno salsas and stuff; not crazy level heat like ghost peppers or whatever), when I had Covid even black pepper was too spicy for me. Weird stuff.

That's terrible. I cook a lot. That would be misery.

PHPaulBread is starting to come back. Coffee still tastes like swamp water. Even tried a healthy dose of hazelnut syrup in it (which I usually like) and it was dis-GUST-ing!
Road trip this afternoon, did a Dunkin' Hot Mocha Latte and it was okay in that I could taste the chocolate.

400mI lost my sense of taste and smell for well over a year and a half. Smell is back to normal, taste is muted a bit. I can no longer drink cola. It tastes bitter.
