I like that idea of the valve stem puller....now in my repertoire, thanks !

Just remember that Teslas have cameras that see everything.

When your car can see everything, you're just one legislative session away from the car uploading everything it sees... followed by automated tickets for all the infractions it sees... followed by automated tickets for infractions by the car owner.

It's almost impossible at Christmas but normally I make sure there's at least 6 or 8 spaces closer to the store than where I park no matter how far I have to walk. I love when I do that and come out to find someone parked so close to my driver's door that I have to fight my way into my truck.

Make something like that to stick under their wiper. I wouldn't be surprised if someone already is.

I may or may not have used one before for whatever purpose. Big Grin

FYSA, the secret is not pulling the stem out completely and to replace the valve cover. Wink

A BB, superglued to the inside of the valve cap, does a good job.

When a crew cab long bed escort service pickup
parked well over the lines at Wal Mart ,
and pointing the wrong way in the isle
One day,

I waited for the driver to get get out ,
and I oh so very carefully squeezed
my mini van inches away from her truck,
into the adjoining spot.

The driver watched me inching and looking
for clearance.

There was no effing way in hell that she was
gaining entry to her truck W/o climbing over the back seat
or the center console.

She came back from the store front and
said she would make it right if I would back out.

So I did , and she did.

( In the four minutes that everyone got re situated,
a better space became available , so I took it )

People can’t park for shit for the same reason they cannot make turns for shit…most of them CANNOT SEE WHERE THEY ARE GOING.

I lay the blame fully at modern vehicles, they’re all so high and big and the windows are so small that visibility sucks. People now turn like they’re driving a big rig because they can’t see the curbs and they park like shit because they can’t see the lines.

I can attest to that. With the F250, I have to use the parking view camera to check my side-to-side clearance and overhang.

Also when parking at home, I pull up next to the house and then back around a 90° corner into my space. Where I pull up next to the house to make the turn into the space there's a flower bed and I have to guess because the truck is so high and wide I can't see how close I am to things.

What I really hate are the hooray for me and screw you people (e.g. morbidly obese people, people who don't want clothing to get dirty from their filthy car, etc.) who intentionally choose to park uncentered so they have more room to get in/out. I've parked perfectly centered before and one of these assholes parks next to me so I close I have to enter my truck through the passenger side.

I have not tried rear entry before, but in this situation I probably would have. If the hatch could be raised, that is.

A civil violation does not merit a criminal response, of course, but I would have be sorely tempted so to do.

I park badly, but keep at it for several tries. I also park far away and tell myself the extra steps are making me healthier.

Pure selfishness and disrespect. Just like the folks that park on the street and with two tires on my lawn.

I drive a big vehicle and park it just fine without cameras or drivers aids. I’ve seen just as many, or more, small cars parked poorly.

People that abuse the handicapped parking spaces should have their vehicle impounded for one week on the first offense . On the second offense it should be 30 days and third offense it goes to the crusher .

Parking habits are another yardstick for civilization.

Like shopping kart returns.

If in doubt, call ICE.

Have the mirrors changed on the Super Duty? They’re saving grace on mine. I can back my truck into a space easier than even with our VW Beetle. I have the bottom mirror on each side adjusted so I can see the rear tires on each side in the inside bottom corner of each mirror. I can back into a parking spot next to a curb within an inch of the curb without touching the curb. I like the curb spots because they leave lots of room on the other side with the truck close to the curb.

With backup cameras, backing in any vehicle is easy.

It's not the backing that's the "problem", it's knowing when to stop next to the flower bed before I start backing.

As you said, the fish-eye lower mirrors and the backup camera make backing a breeze.

The other thing that is new(er) here is people backing their vehicles in at the front of brick and mortars. It’s like a damn virus that is spreading. I’m entering into a parking lot for necessity items and the person in front of me proceeds to stop completely, and then proceeds to back into a spot, with 2-4 corrections, right in front of the brick and mortar. It’s fucking maddening.

I do this more and more now, and I'm getting good at it. The reason I do it is I have a lower car, and with a giant SUV on either side of me I can't see the lane into which I am backing when it is time to leave. Plus, everyone going through a parking lot now is doing 25 down the lanes and is unwilling to stop when they see back up lights coming out of a space. There is no courtesy. It should be obvious that the car backing out from between the Chevy Behemoth and the Dodge SuperFat can't see fuckall but since "It's all about ME!" in today's world, they don't stop.

Courtesy is dead, and common sense is on its deathbed. Every day I get closer to Mencken: "Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats."

"I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . That’s the only way to pay back part of that vast debt, to live up to and try to fulfill that tremendous obligation."

Me too. When backing into a space, it's highly unlikely that you're gonna hit cross traffic, and when leaving, it's so much easier to see cross traffic in front of you, than it is if you're backing out.
