Why can’t people take a few seconds to park correctly?
I seriously do not understand this where people just pull into a spot and leave their car the way it is no matter how badly they parked. I ALWAYS make sure I park 100% correct within the parking space lines even if I have to do it three times.

I was out of town for an investigation for several days so I had no choice but to go to the grocery store on Christmas Eve to do my shopping for Christmas meal and next few days as my wife’s parents are staying with us.

I decided to drive my wife’s nice new vehicle as it is easier for loading groceries only to come out to find an idiot in an absolutely beat up truck parked so badly next to me that number one I could barely get into the driver seat and then had to do several multi-point turns to be able to back out without hitting his vehicle. I ALMOST waited until he came out to his truck to have a word, but decided against it.

This is how he parked.

I dont have the skills to park like he did. Probably wise not to confront him. I have an image in my mind of what he looks like.

I had the same image. Everything and I mean everything on the front of his truck was held together with zip ties and duct tape. My main reason for not waiting for him is if it got into a physical confrontation, I would be under investigation at my agency even though it was off-duty and I don’t need that. I was able to back out so I let it be but still makes me made people are like that.

Your wife drives a flatbed pickup? Razz

On a "semi" serious note, i’m kinda surprised the truck didn’t end up with a flat tire… ot two

This is nothing compared to those who take up two spaces, not because their vehicles were large, but because they are fucking assholes.

It’s the same here, everywhere. I marvel at it. My Costco has the parking spaces with the additional yellow lines and I came out to my DD last week after getting groceries before the Xmas madness last minute shopping started, and couldn’t believe I didn’t have a door ding. The person had parked so close to me I don’t know how they egressed their vehicle. Those spaces have so much ample room to pull in correctly but they don’t. I usually park out in the sticks but it was dead last Monday. So many open spots but I learned my lesson and will go back to parking in the boon docks.

The other thing that is new(er) here is people backing their vehicles in at the front of brick and mortars. It’s like a damn virus that is spreading. I’m entering into a parking lot for necessity items and the person in front of me proceeds to stop completely, and then proceeds to back into a spot, with 2-4 corrections, right in front of the brick and mortar. It’s fucking maddening.

They can’t drive here. Either entirely too fast, swerving lanes, or way under the speed limit, swerving within their lane and touching the next lane as they scroll on their phone while driving. And they can’t park worth a fuck either. Driving here completely sucks. You have to plan your short range trips out like a damn ninja or like the mob doing a hit. It’s just mind blowing how something so simple has turned into a travesty. The parking thing really pisses me off.

There are a half dozen channels on F.B. and Y.T. where
you can post your prime ass hat parking examples.

Some allow plate numbers others do not.

Yes I can’t stand when people do that. I possibly understand if they drive some super expensive car and do it parked in the last two spaces at the end of the lot, but when it is anyone who does it within normal parking range….ugh!

I used to carry to carry these to put on people’s windshields. I think I still have the PDF document somewhere to print out on yellow thick paper and cut out the several it puts on one page.

If driving the RAV4, I like to park reasonably close to the store, especially in this weather. I'm just as lazy as the next guy.

If I'm driving the Vette or the F250, I park out in Outer Zambiziland and deal with the walk because:

A) the F250 is huge and takes 1-1/2 spaces length-wise so one end or the other isn't hanging out in the traffic lane, or

B) I don't want some asshat opening their door into the Vette. I would absolutely lose my shit and do something I'd no doubt regret.

In any of the above cases, I too will tweak as needed to be centered between the lines.

I keep a handful of business cards that read "You park like a fucktard". Also, always keep a valve stem puller handy. Its not cool to damage someone's tire when you flatten it. Smile

In 1977, my mother took me with her to go to SEARS for a quick stop. On the way, she took me by a motorcycle shop to get a replacement tire tube.
At Sears she left me in the car, a '76 Buick Electra Limited coupe, with the window down.

5 minutes later, a guy pulls in close aboard on my side, whips his door open hard and dents my door. In a pretty strong place too, between the outside handle and the door edge. He looked down, harrumphed and went on inside without a word. I sat there and got to seething.

The inner tube always included a stem cap that included a valve remover. It took longer to flatten than I imagined but I got both drivers side tires and flung their cores across the parking lot.

Mom got back in a couple minutes later and I went home and slept like a baby that night.

I 1000% get the mentality, especially with the vette. My DD is a cheap, econo-hatchback but I treat it the same as my truck or my performance car. Out in the sticks. It’s the principle of the thing. Don’t care how inexpensive or expensive the vehicle is. I paid hard money for all of them and got damn I hate door dings and rock chips. I use clearbra, ceramic coating and generally well look after my vehicles that cost good money, that I maintain to the letter. If I damage one of them myself I can deal and live with it. I’d go ape if a stranger doesn’t something to any of them. An extra 5 minute walk is good for my heart. It’s low level cardio. Besides, when coming back to the vehicle(s), if anything is going on I’ve got great line of sight, through the sights Wink

People are jerks when it comes to driving or parking because lots of people are selfish and self centered believing the world revolves around them. It annoys me to get stuck behind some dope driving under the speed limit and keeps tapping their brakes every 100 feet or the imbecile that parks any kind of way when its just as easy to park like you have a brain in your head. Ive often been tempted to key a car when someone parks it like an idiot. Its just a symptom of a decaying society and will get worse over time and never better. I don't mind parking at the far end of the parking lot to avoid getting door dings. The biggest offenders often try and park as close to the entrance as possible.
