Todd HuffmanBack to dating again...update at top
I’m on my third (and last) marriage. My wife told me I couldn’t say that because I didn’t know what would happen if she kicked off. I can say that I have no desire to start dating again at my age. I’ll just talk to my dog and maybe find a really understanding sheep.

Here's to the sunny slopes of long ago. April 27, 2025, 07:57 PM

We each have children and grandchildren, and we brought different net wealth into the marriage. Really our choices were to 1) Have the prenup and all the trusts/wills etc, or 2) Get married but maintain completely separate finances in our individual names (legally a weak arrangement), or 3) Remain unmarried (but face the issue of common law marriage).
I guess that is a different set of circumstances. I've never really considered leaving anything significant to my kids, just like I don't expect to get anything from my parents. It's their money, I haven't done anything to earn it, and I kinda hope they spend it all enjoying their retirement. And I've told them that. They equipped me on the front end to make it on my own, so I don't need them to worry about providing for me when they die.
I actually just got a text from my dad this evening telling me they landed in Israel, so while I'm a little worried about the security situation over there, I'm glad they're pursuing life's opportunities and enjoying their later years together. If the last check they write bounces, I'll be just fine with that.

preten2bWas widowed about 10 years ago and know that I'm wired to want a good partner. However my experiences are of a similar nature to Greek Tragedies. A Drunk - check, bit crazy - check, liberal - check, pissed off the kids - check, just do not want men anymore big check.
You young guys (n gals) are more inclined to be pliable, but I have noticed most everyone I've met was very good at picking out differences instead of similarities. No longer optimistic these days.

mr kablammoI am 60 years old. Were I to be widowed or divorced then I would probably go to Reno, NV once a year.

cee_Kampmr kablammo,
That's a long time for resisting temptation. (once per year)
Many years ago I flew to Reno and Vegas for USPSA competitions regularly.
As competitors, other than eating in the casino restaurants, we didn't spend much time in the resorts/hotels.
Up at dawn, out to the range, shoot all day or work as a match Range Official, and back to the resort/hotel at dark.
I recall getting on the elevator to turn in for the evening one night and an attractive woman got on the elevator with me.
My initial take on the situation was she was a resort/hotel guest, nicely dressed, moderate makeup, nice hair. Nothing like what your mental picture of a hooker might be.
Once the elevator door closed, she asked me if I needed any "companionship" for a few hours, and for a fee that would be discussed later in my room.
I was newly married at that time, and politely declined.

parabellumI'd sooner eat a shotgun than try to date these days.

Don't think I'd go that far, but at 66 I have absolutely NO desire to date anymore. Never got married and wouldn't want to now. A good dog is all the company I want nowadays.

PCWyomingBecame a widower 4 years ago. Went into a business and the very nice looking lady that works there (3 years younger than I am and has been a widow for 8 years, whom I was thinking about asking to go to lunch/dinner) asked if my flip phone can receive text messages.
I said "Yes". She said she was going to text me to see if I wanted to go to lunch.
We have been on 5 lunch/dinner dates. It may not develop further, but it is nice to have someone to talk to and have conversations.

You need to find someone that has a common interest. If you like the outdoors, join a hiking group, fishing...fishing club, etc.
There were two women in my group at work that were divorced and always complaining. They took my advice and two years later, both were married.
What ever you do, do not mess with old flames.

jimmy123xI hope she works out. I got divorced last year, 48 years old now, after being with the same person for 7 years or so. Dating in South Florida is a nightmare and 40+ year old women being alcoholics seems like a prerequisite. Had 3 dates with 3 different women, one woman drank 4 tito's and tonics over dinner. Another one drank 4 rum mixed drinks, and the third 4 glasses of wine. All in the time of dinner at a restaurant. I hardly drink.

2000Z-71Hiked Thunderbird Falls today and brought our dogs. The dogs got along great! Huge relief. My dufus is a male German Shepherd/Karelian Bear Dog mix and she has a female German Shepherd. What can I say, my dog knows the Bro Code.

92fstechIt sounds like she has potential! And the dog needs an extra treat tonight, lol. I hope it works out for the two of you.

LOL

No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.
