Sorry to hear about the Cabota, but if the heater still works at least you're good for most of the year!

And now I've discovered that the ()^&ing Speed Queen washer has developed a leak at the agitator shaft seal.

Lifetime guarantee, so the parts are free, but the labor is gonna suck. Repair guy said where it's 10 years old, they may not be able to get it apart without breaking something.

Sigh.

Well, the tractor fix was quick and relatively cheap. Turns out the compressor clutch needed a shim removed. Worn enough that it wouldn't pull in.

Basic charge to pull it down, check for leaks and refill to the proper level. No extra charge for working on the clutch.

Can't bitch about that.

Hah, at least you'll be cool for the next two weeks or the first snow of Fall, whichever comes first!

That's good news, and good you have a service company in the area that is fair, any number could have told you it needed a full clutch and compressor replacement....

Small independent shop, Father and Son operation. This is my second experience with them and they have treated me right both times.

Probably not coincidentally, they were recommended by my usual mechanic as he doesn't do AC, and he has been fabulous. Done right the first time at reasonable rates and on time. Also an indy.

Guys like that are a treasure when you can find them.

Good news, bad news...

Seems the leak on the Speed Queen has healed itself, at least for now. Did 3 loads yesterday and no leak. I'll wait and see what develops.

Went over to finish up the driveway rehab job now that my AC is working and put a sharp rock through the sidewall of a front tire. Managed to patch the tube and limp home but darn sure ain't doing any loader work until I get new tires on the front. They're 11 years old and while they have plenty of tread, the sidewalls are cracking from age.

I won't be able to do loader work until $500 worth of new tires and tubes are installed.
