They got the idea when it was decided that they had to pay their minimum wage workers a "Living Wage" of $15 an hour, so they put in the kiosks and encouraged people to order to go so they could hire less workers.

The wife and I recently went to Chili's for the first time in a few years and we both got their new $10.99 3 For Me deal:

1. Salad or soup
2. The "Big Smasher": a nice big smashburger with diced onions, shredded lettuce and pickles with American cheese and burger sauce, plus fries. The Chili's take on a Big Mac. It was delicious.
3. Drink



Compare that to the McDonalds down the road that wants something like $11.99 for a very crappy, very small, very dried out and very lousy Big Mac medium combo all served to you by a surly couldn't-give-a-shit worker.

I used to like to stop at McDonald's for breakfast, to get an Egg McMuffin or two. But no more since their muffins changed and now taste like cardboard. I just stop at Whataburger for a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit, instead.

Whataburger's jalapeno cheddar biscuit for the win.
