It has to be hands down the WORST "secure unified" login crap I've ever seen. The sun, stars, and moon all have to be aligned with all of my chakras at the same time for the login to actually work. It only seems to work between 3:00am and 3:01 am on ever second teusday of the millennia.

I literally don't understand why it even exists outside of "if you can't log into your own account, nobody else can!" type of "security".

I’ll join others in saying that I never have an issue. I don’t use it often but in the maybe half a dozen uses I don’t think I’ve ever had to try a second time to log in.

I use Safari and Chrome browsers.

Put mew on the list of not having a problem.

The problem is remembering on those websites that offer several ways to log in such as ID.me or some other method. I have to remember to use the right one.

I use a password manager and it does not know that for a particular website, I have to use ID.me which is its own login page.

My workaround is to annotate in the title. Like if I go to XYZ.gov, the title in the password manager says XYZ.gov (use ID.me).

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Not using a vpn. Tried firefox and chrome. Everything about the login seems fine until it tries to redirect me back to the website I started at, where it throws a secure connection error, and if I reload the website, it's logged me out of idme already, so I have to start the cycle all over again, and it just keeps resetting at that same point.

Then it's not the login to ID.me that's failing, as you suggested in your thread title and OP. It's ID.me handing back off to the site that's using ID.me for authentication. Either their hand-off mechanism is broken or you're doing something different in your browsers to break it.

Are you using any adware or malware blockers? Got cookies locked-down in your browser config? Anything like that?

Almost sounds like a broken SSO redirect from the originating site.
