I guess it's judgement day in your world... Seems the old farts can't tolerate the young dudes--you... and you can't tolerate the old farts... Only difference between them and you is a few years... Dad always told me not to judge a person, just consider the source...there is a difference...

For fucks sake what is it with people not reading posts? Did you? Good lord go back and read it and if you can not figure out who judged a man by actions/words, and who judged a man by looking at him, I will begrudgingly explain it to you.

Or perhaps you think one should not judge a man by his actions/words. If that’s the case 1860ARMY, I’ll gladly let you explain that to me. Roll Eyes

I’m no longer the 25, 30, or even 40 year old guy that they love to spout off to. Now I’m just one of the responsible guys that they resent. It really should be legal to slap these morons.

Ok, I went and read it again...No, I don't want or need you to explain anything, You were perfectly clear, you even used a some f-bombs to make your point clearer.
In my opinion, which is a totally different thing than judging, You don't like the old guys spouting off because you feel they have screwed up their lives while you on the other had have done such a good job they should envy you. And, because they don't, and you so have your sh!t together, In your judgement you should be able to smack them.

So, what I see/read is we have a bunch of old guys who in your opinion are basically losers spouting off about their opinion of life. While you are spouting off about your opinion of their life, and how yours is different and better in your opinion, so they should not have the option of talking... Basically you and the old guys are doing the same thing, you are just younger with a different point of view...and I didn't read anything where the old guys have judged you worthy of a slap...

So I'll just consider the source and move on...
Regards,
60

Just before an older gent retired from my company, he came into a larger meeting with some cookies. Every time someone 30-ish and younger came into the conference room (some after the meeting started) the gent would pull out a cookie and hand walk it over to them.

Of course he younger person would think it was some kind of joke (cause only the young peeps had a cookie) and would ask what the cookie was for.

Nearly verbatim the gent would respond with, "I have been noticing people in your age group expect a reward for just doing their job so, that's your cookie for coming into work today."

While rude as it might sound, the gent's assessment was not too far off. The gent retired about a month later...

Old guy here.

Never had a 'Vette. Tried to explain to the newer guys how my life experiences went without much luck.

'Back in my day, I never made a car payment and paid off my house when I was 32.' doesn't seem to mean all that much.

After that, I had three younger gentleman ask me for financial advice. One of 'em has also never made a car payment.

They seem to try to be more financially responsible now, so there is always a chance to help out the next generation.

You and I would have gotten along fine. I'm 40, had the house paid off at 36, and have never made a car payment.

While I have worked with some real curmudgeons, I've also been blessed to have worked with some really great older guys who shared a lot of sound wisdom over the years, as well as parents and in-laws who have done the same. The key is being able to discern the difference.

Where I worked , the old guys never tried to give advice about life or finances , etc.
They were real quick to tell you how to do your job though . A lot of times they were right but they were NOT open to different ways of accomplishing the same thing . The old way was the only way .

1860 I’d rather you stay and defend every word you said. Was I judged worthy of a slap? Okay no,I’ll give you that, but judged I was. As was clearly stated.
They didn’t spout off about their opinion about life, they spouted off about something they assumed about me, based on nothing more than my appearance. Guess you didn’t catch that part after reading it again either.
I don’t like them spouting off about assumptions without a shred of proof, not because I think they messed up their life. It’s his life he can live it as he wishes but he also has no business telling me how to live mine. I also never said he should envy me. Come to think of it I didn’t make any statement how I thought he should feel. Those are assumptions you made. Sound familiar? In your defense you did state that was your opinion. Your opinion can still be an assumption.
I know you said you didn’t need me to explain it but I don’t really care. If you want to start in on my thread with your assumptions and opinions you had better be prepared for me to defend my words. I’m not gonna take that lying down.
I’ll not judge you for your assumptions, I’ll simply consider the source.

To the rest of the members, I apologize if I didn’t handle that like a gentleman. I dislike what this turned into, and it is frustrating. As a lot of you know, it’s not the first time this week I’ve had to defend my words.
