Chrome book
Wife got a deal on one and bought for me as my laptops are getting old, win 7 upgraded to 8.
Chrome book won't let me in the Play store unless I put credit card info on unit.
Wanted to download Able Word but can't use it on Chrome Book, won't let me do the down load.
I planned on this unit being in my workshop down in the pole barn but not happy with it at all.
I'm sure that I will find more things that will not work on this piece of junk.

May I suggest that you simply use the excellent free software that is part of a Chromebook experience? You truly don't have to use any purchased software, if you adopt the Google applications that are native to your device and account.

1. Create a Google e-mail identity
2. Click on the "waffle" icon next to your user name in the upper right.
3. Look at the icons that pop open. One of them is called "Docs". Click that.
4. Choose a "blank document" template. You will have on the screen a typical word processor. It works well. Write a simple document and save it.

Now, here's where it gets useful. Copy the documents you have on the ancient windows device to your new Google Drive.

1. Power up and get the ancient laptop running.
2. Open the internet browser.
3. Enter drive.google.com as the "URL" in the typical search bar. You will find a useful window with many icons on the left frame.
4. Select the icon "my drive". Click the downward arrow next to the words my drive. Select new folder. Key in a descriptive folder name. For instance, you may have a folder on the windows machine entitled "Christmas Letters". Duplicate that folder name here.
5. On the left frame, click the my drive icon down arrow and you will see the new folder. Select the new folder. You will see it above with My Drive > Christmas Letters.
6. Click the big icon on the upper left with + New in a white box. Then click file upload.
7. Navigate on the windows machine to the files in your Christmas letters folder. Select all these files using typical click and shift-click.
8. Click "upload" to upload the files to your Google Drive folder.

Now you have a new perfectly functional Chromebook with easy to use Docs app and all your Christmas Letters in your Google Drive.

Repeat as required to get files from the Windows laptop or machine to the Chromebook.

You truly have moved to a better situation. It just takes a little time to set up.

That tip sure helped! Thanks.
I am a pre-computer era person so new things can be difficult to grasp.I really wasn't concerned about old documents but in being able to make new ones and I think I'm up to speed on that part.
