It is not an uncommon side effect of some chemotherapies. There are medications that help.
Chlorpromazine and Regalan help. They both require a prescription.

As Pyker mentioned drinking from the far side of the glass. Not always easy...

Two others a bit less common:

Drink while someone covers you ears with their hands (like monkey hears). Learned in third or fourth grade and has never failed.
Eat a teaspoon of sugar
