I bought a sixer of Stella Artois bottles and was having one at a friends house and something just wasn’t right and I’m staring at the bottle. Then someone asks what the hell are you staring at?
11.2 ounces is what I’m staring at! Not that I drink it often, but certainly no more.

SchmelbyIf I recall, about 30 years ago a brewery I think in Pittsburgh tried selling 11 oz bottles.
I think it almost bankrupted them. LOL. Beer drinkers don't put up with that shit!

At least 15-20 years. I had one at the Laguna Seca GP round in 2005. I said, not bad, and knew something was up once home and cold. Chintzy asses but I’m sure there is some reason they do this because they aren’t the only brewery that does this.

It's not "chintzy", just metric.
Most (nearly all) European beers imported into and sold in the US are in metric bottles, generally either 1/3 or 1/2 of a liter. And as Patriot pointed out, it's been that way for a long time.
1/3 of a liter (333 ml) is 11.2 oz.
1/2 of a liter (500 ml) is 16.9 oz.

PoacherWell, I do generally have one at bar in a pint glass rather than at home. It still sucks. Beer comes in 12, 16, and fouty. Wait, that’s malt liquor.

PerceptionIt is jarring to see that, but as others have posted that is frequently the standard for euro beers.
"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in." July 30, 2025, 01:44 PM
