Complete CRAP!!!!

They used to say Ordered: and listed the name of the ACTUAL item, shipped/delivered: name of the ACTUAL item.

Now it says Ordered:Category of Item and guess what most of the time the category is completely wrong!!

For instance I ordered an external rechargeable trail cam battery
The email subject line said Ordered: 1 Automotive Item

I ordered a pair of US made shoe horns
The email subject line said Ordered: 1 Automotive Item

Also nowhere in the email itself does it actually tell you what item the email is for. Just the total cost.
It’s a pain because then you have to go open the app to determine if it’s something valuable you need to go have the neighbor grab off the porch or if it’s a box of ziplock bags that can just sit there.

Yep. They rolled this out several weeks ago.

They no longer want email providers (like Google with Gmail) to have the ability to scrape stuff like shopping habits/trends data from these Amazon emails. Amazon wants exclusive access to that data to weaponize or sell.

In addition, it also forces you back to the Amazon site/app more frequently (since it's the only way to see anything but the most generic info), where offers and ads are able to grab your attention and lead to more impulse sales.

Basically, Amazon is intentionally inconveniencing you so that they can profit more from you.

Our business acct at work started doing this, but has since gone back to the old email subject descriptions

I figured the part about making you go back to the app to sell more.
Like putting the milk all the way in the back of the grocery store.

I had not thought about the email companies grabbing that info.

They've also completely neutered the reviews.

I pitched a bitch at them via chat and got a few platitudes and no meaningful response. Which, of course, is about what I expected.

I've started checking Walmart first and have ordered a couple of things from them.

Amazon pisses me off, but living where I do I don't have a lot of options.

That is precious. Don't they know who you are?

BTW - who is "they"? Growing percentage of sales there are third parties, and if you got any reply I suspect that you were reviewing one of those, not Amazon-proper.

They are reviews, not customer service. If you have a real issue that's the place to go and they will almost always resolve an issue quickly.

1: I did bitch to Customer Service.

2: I use the reviews to choose among various options when looking at a product I haven't ordered before. It helps - occasionally - to weed out the total crap/clones/chineseum

I don’t have a problem with that. If I have one or more items on order I open the app, click “orders”, and see the status of each. I don’t pay much attention to the emails.

Isn't that what capitalistic companies do, work to profit from their customers?

Controlling their sales information makes all the sense in the world, especially if companies like Google are reading the messages and then selling consumer purchasing information to other companies to market.

Google is probably scraping your web browsing information either way, but I can't blame Amazon from wanting to protect it's data, and why would anyone not want Google stopped from scraping your information, selling it worldwide and creating more spam for you......

Don't forget - it may be time to reorder some more of them shoe horns.

They are nice and sturdy not flimsy at all! My boys could not believe how easy they get in their soccer boots now.

Not sure why I did not think about shoe horns years ago for soccer boots.
