If you do this, you ought to be strung up your balls.

Slowly.

Very slowly.

No, slower than that.

Should take as long as it took you to pass the Amazon truck.

In some cases speed governors are the problem.

My dad was an Old School Professional Truck Driver, Owner Operator.
That crap used to absolutely burn him up. If you can’t pass that truck, drop back, drop a mph or two, and wait. He didn’t like left lane campers either.
When I drove with him, all the courteous, professional drivers were from his generation, and a dying breed.

I agree, Smudge. Those fuckers know very well they can hardly go any faster than the truck in front so why don't they just follow and permit other traffic to pass both? And if there's a hill with a truck lane get the hell over in it rather than driving 40 mph in the center lane forcing cars to pass on both sides!

Most truckers are very good drivers and courteous as well but the % of bad ones seems to really have gone up over the last 10 years.

It's an odd thing, we take I-80 from Davenport,IA to
Iowa City,
Four trips over and back and it won't happen at all.

But from Friday noon until Saturday evening it will happen on a regular basis.

12 and 15 cars will be drafting each other, chomping at the bit to break loose.

Oh, I’ve encountered far more good truck drivers than bad on this trip, to be sure. It only takes a few of these assclowns to jam things up for miles, though.

Right after I posted this, I got stuck behind one and the one in the right lane tried to change lanes on top of me and ran me nearly off the road. Another foot or so, and I would’ve been done.

I used to defend the truckers and tell people to respect em. Not that I wouldn't now, but my honest observation is they all seem to be Taliban at least out here. Unrelated I suppose, just saying what I see.

Yeah, gimme some of those. Fox two, splash one. Sayonara, cocksucker!

I get the whole governed speed thing. Truly. I simply think it’s a gasping gaping anus move to not simply sit their stupid ass in the right lane behind the guy who’s going 1mph slower than they want to go. How much time is it buying them, at the cost of the line of cars built up behind them while we all do ten or fifteen miles an hour under the speed limit? The correct answer is: nobody cares.

I just have to survive two more days of this, God willing.

Speed governors are not the problem. A-hole drivers who pull out into the left lane knowing darn well they don't have the speed to pass expediently, and then refusing to get back over are the problem.

I'm with Smudge...string 'em up by the balls!

Interstate 40 between Little Rock and Memphrica, either direction. 130 miles of agony.

Wow! As soon as read the title of this thread, this was the first thing that came to mind. 100% lock; this happens on 81 all the freaking time.

Point of fact: That was the exact stretch of road that inspired this thread. It sucked.

Oh, and other than entering the state, I saw zero state police the whole fucking time. None. It’s the only state I’ve seen exactly nobody running radar on my route from one corner of the country to another. Eight states so far, and only Arkansas didn’t give a fuck who was doing what on their highways. The miles of shredded tires on either side of the I40 were also a clue, they just don’t care.

I don’t like the left lane campers either but I’ve come to understand how it can happen with truckers. My newest Chevy work truck is governed to 75 mph maximum speed. I just ride along on the governor. I can say for certain that most of the people I pass on the interstate speed up and pace me for at least a short distance. I can’t speed up a bit and get it over with and I’m not falling in behind some asshole who was going slower.

Can't verify if this is true or not.... But, got fed up with a "Swift" Carriers truck doing this crap. So, I called to home office to complain. Had nothing better to do as I was "trapped". Gave them time, location, and trailer #.

They indicated that this info will be logged onto the drivers record for review. And will also impact them negatively when insurance review is done. They don't like any reports of "unsafe driving".

Got a small bit of satisfaction. Again, can't say if it will change much.

Well, apparently they do 'give a fuck' re: certain behavior on the highway...It's best not to Fuck Around and Find Out! Wink

Look, I’m not saying ASP aren’t good at what they do, but they can’t do what they do where they aren’t, and that was the entire span of I40 yesterday, from the border west of Memphis all the way to Fort Smith.

I think the gas prices are indicative of where they spend the money. It’s 20-30 cents a gallon more in Tennessee and Oklahoma, but they keep their highways clean and patrolled. I didn’t see that in Arkansas. Now, yes, it’s a sample size of one day, but that was a hell of a day on the highway.

Certainly 'they can’t do what they do where they aren’t' is a very good (and unassailable!) point, which I get, so please don't take my post a criticism, but rather an attempt at injecting lighter/contrasting content into the discussion, as evidenced by the wink/sarcasm/wise-ass emoticon. Smile

Lol, you’re fine, man. It’s a worthy point. I think if anything, Arkansas could stand to spend a little more money employing some more state police of that quality.
