Windows 11s User Interface Kinda Sucks:
After using Win 11 on my wife's laptop a bit more, it's not difficult to use or to get used to. The main thing that holds me off is simply fixing something that isn't broken, and all the potential hassle that comes with it. I also don't want to spend days setting everything back up to the way I like it, or finding a new way to like it in the case of an new OS.

There's also the case of hardware drivers, specifically my old model Epson printer. I have already been warned to never update its hardware driver as the latest version forces you to use Epson brand ink, and mine works great on a generic I found that is less than half the price, plus it doesn't clog up all the time like Epson ink does!

While tempted to stay current, I'm going to stick with "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

I just upgraded from 10 to 11 and will give another vote for Explorer Patcher. Got most everything back to the more user friendly win10 UI within a few minutes of downloading the program.

I didn't even need to redo my full screen start screen as all the programs I had on it were right back where they should be. The only "hiccup" is some of the program icons need to be reset as they are just blank white, but otherwise I am quite happy Smile

I personally HAD to upgrade to Windows 11 as I use TurboTax for my Federal Tax return and it said it would not be supported in 2026 for the 2025 return. By chance I also seriously needed to upgrade my home desktop as it was literally taking 30-45 minutes after startup before the computer was usable.

I upgraded absolutely everything inside the computer; motherboard, memory, graphics card, CPU, etc. I also made my C drive a solid state drive. Now my boot time is 40 seconds to a usable state.

The upgrade came with Windows 11 since I needed that for TurboTax and so far I have had no issues.

The upgrade to Windows 11 is called Ubuntu. Works better, costs less. The upgrade to Ubuntu is called Linux Mint. Costs the same (free), works as good.

Mac guy here.
Why not skip Ubuntu and go directly to Linux Mint?

I went the explorerpatcher route and am really enjoying my desktop UI experience now. Thanks so much for that suggestion, gt2022!
