My other Sig is a Steyr. |
Yeah, I have a pizza place that is on the way home from work that I could call and it would be ready by the time I drove by. A few years ago I was told I'd have to order on their app or pay 10% extra. I told them I knew how to save 90% and haven't been back since.

They must have failed the "Common Sense 101" course. I understand ordering on the app, they don't have to pay somebody to take phone orders, but they're going about it the wrong way. Better way: Quietly increase prices by 10%. App orders get an automatic 10% discount. If somebody calls to place an order, the phone answering employee says something like, "I'll be pleased to take your order, but do you know that you get a discount if you order on the app?" The customer's perception will then be reward for ordering on app, instead of punishment for ordering by phone. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

That still wouldn't fly for me. I order and pay how I like. If you charge me for it, I'll take my business elsewhere if alternatives exist. When you order to go on site do they take your money at the time you order? If that’s the case then I could see requiring your cc info when you order by phone. I wouldn’t like to send a delivery out in today’s world if it wasn’t already paid for. _____________________ Be careful what you tolerate. You are teaching people how to treat you.

The biggest thing that pisses me off about the various third party delivery outfits is that the businesses seem to prioritize filling those orders. I hate either sitting at a table or standing in line at a place and watching online order after online order go out while the people who are physically present have to wait. I get why it is that way, but it still pisses me off. I live in the middle of nowhere so I can't use those services, but I wouldn't if I could.

They did not ask for payment information, they simply stated that they do not accept pickup orders because "Uber-Eats delivers." I did not want delivery. I wanted to pick it up myself on my way home. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Wait. What??? So what if Uber Eats delivers for them? What about DoorDash? That's stupid to turn down business for no good reason. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Thank you Very little |
Sign up to be a delivery driver for Uber Eats, Park near the place and put your order in, then, accept it as the Uber driver nearby, take your own pizza home and get paid to do it... Voila instant pizza access and gas(well electricity) money to boot

They don’t want your money and you don’t want their pizza. It’s a win-win!

I actually did want the pizza, I just didn't want it via Uber-Eats (or any other delivery). I did not want to hang around there with my thumb up my ass for fifteen minutes or more, I wanted to place an order for the pizza to be picked up when I got there. Just like when I order from the Chinese place, to be ready for pickup. Or some (any, all) of the other pizza places in the area. Or the BBQ joints. Or any other food place that offers take-out service. Every one of them, without exception, will accept an order to be ready for pickup. Every single one. Except for "Apopka Pizza." Too bad, because they really do have some of the best pizza that I have found in the area. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

And they probably actually do want your money. You guys just couldn’t agree on terms for the exchange. Their policy seems ludicrous and I can’t help but wonder if whoever you talked to really knew the policy?

I am going to go out on a limb here. Two assumptions based on Occam's Razor: Yes, they do want your money Yes, they have a reason for this policy. Maybe they have been burned with orders being called in and not picked up. If they are as short staffed as you describe this could be a big enough problem for the policy. If their pizza is as good as you say they have the demand to go with this solution. I get that this event was annoying, but I wouldn't write them off if I liked their product as you say you do. I would go back and when you are there waiting for your made to order pizza ask about the policy, the reasons, and maybe see they would accept phone in orders from you, especially if you are a good and known customer Maybe you can have your pizza and eat it too. Your money, your pizza, your call.

I swear I had something for this |
Does Uber Eats not have a pickup option? I know on DoorDash if I make a pickup order through them, I get a discount if I pick it up myself.

probably a good thing I don't have a cut |
I notice that Apopka Pizza web order page has a different number than the Three Odd Guys website has. I wonder if it makes a difference which number you call?

We used the Pizza order number, but if you saw the layout of the place, you would probably agree that it really shouldn't make any difference. There's a fairly long bar. Beer is at the section of the bar nearer the front door, pizza ovens, etc., are toward the rear of the place, but there is no perceptible line of demarcation. Allegedly two separate businesses, but if you're in the place and ordering both beer and pizza, they will ring your combined tab at either register. Next time I'm in there for anything, I'll pay for beer and pizza separately and take a good look at the credit card receipts to see what the business names are on the two receipts. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

We have a Mc Allister's sandwich shop here that does a really good job. It twelve miles from home. Their policy states that only App. Pick up orders will be accepted. No you can not call in , they won't do it. I dislike this b.s. I don't tip them for " to go" orders ,because of this. Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Get my pies outta the oven! |
A lot of pizza places seem to have gone to these apps/systems like Slice and don't want you calling them anymore to order. They want to control everything via online ordering now. A place near me tried this crap when I wanted to order a hoagie and when you go online, they tack on an extra $1 online ordering "fee" THEN prompt you for a tip too! Screw that, I canceled the order and never went there again.
