Netflix dropping movies with no warning
Netflix really needs to have a warning or some other sort of notification when a movie is about to be removed from their streaming selection.

Last night, I started watching "Tears of the Sun" again. Made it about halfway through, then went to bed. Went back to finish it just now, and get an error message of "This title is not available in your area".

Tried to find it through Search, and nada.

Come to find out, according to some blog I found, that movie was on the list of films to be dropped from US streaming on September 1st.

A heads-up would have been nice before I started watching it, Netflix. Roll Eyes

(Grumble grumble... Didn't even get to see the big ending firefight... Grumble grumble.)

Fuck streaming. This is why I'm still on disc only. I can wait a day for the Blu Ray in full 1080p with no bs compression.

I get a monthly email outlining what is being added and what is being removed the following month.

Not sure how I signed up for the monthly email but here is their site.

I get a warning at the bottom of my screen when they're about to pull a movie. It usually starts about 2 weeks before the pull date.

I also get an email a month ahead of what's upcoming and what's being pulled and I'm not even on Netflix.

(Sorry Rogue, I couldn't help myself.) Big Grin

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Agreed.

I'll put it this way: There are few Bruce Willis movies I haven't gone back and watched again. Tears of the Sun would be one of them.

As for Netflix: Ever since they lost Starz their catalogue has been pretty poor. In a couple years they're going to lose Disney. I wonder how much longer they'll be worth the fee?

Netflix won't tell you but other sites will publish what is coming and going monthly. It is cyclical.
