My last Amtrak trip was from Manassas VA to Birmingham AL. I had sleeper accommodations. No issues with crowd noise, but also my trip was just post-Covid, so I had to stay in my "cabin" and have meals delivered.

Sleeper accommodations include meals, which can be pricy a-la-carte. A trick I learned a few years ago was to find a discount code online, to use when buying my ticket. They are out there and are worth it, if you take the time to look.

Yep. I’m not big into the phone bullshit..but those air pod pros, take my money. Noise cancellation got a LOT better on Gen 2. And the Gen 3’s come out in September. I don’t board a flight without them. And society is getting bad enough that any brick and mortar I go to now, especially Costco, they are in, and noise cancellation is on. I hate it because it takes down my situational awareness if trouble started but I tend to keep moving, and quick. The mother fuckers that talk on it, on speakerphone, should be ticketed. Flights without screaming children the entire time will test every ounce of patience you possess.

No Shit, right! Last train we took was in Europe, Munich to Rome, we had a sleeper room and 6 adults in it. We were of course drinking and a bit loud, the neighbors pounded on the wall, so we got to sleep.

The Shitter was right behind our room, and yep, you basically could see the rails through the hole, everything went right outside and the car stunk.

We have discussed taking the Auto Train out of Sanford to DC taking the motorcycles up as far as DC and riding back..

When I take Amtrak I sit in the "Quiet Car" on the Acela.

Always pay for business class seat.

There you will have better chance of peace.
