Watching Rubio beat up on Jayapal was political theater at its finest. Her constant use of “reclaiming my time “, as irritating as it is, didn’t detract at all. The term seems to be mostly used by democrats when they’re called out on their BS

Saw it on “the Five”. It was described in the Marco Rubio thread in the lounge. https://redstate.com/bonchie/2...ing-hearing-n2189412 Guess I worded it inappropriately. The point was the ridiculous “reclaiming my time”

I believe it was Maxine Waters that first popularized this particular shrill repetition, to be used when a hearing/debate wasn't going their way.

This one has been bugging me for a while. Grandstanding Politician (GP) gets his or her turn, blurts out a diatribe, expecting a gotcha moment and his or her sudden internet fame. Poor testifier (PT) tries like hell to offer an answer or explanation and can't do it, because the second he or she states something that doesn't match GP's narrative, GP starts screaming about "reclaiming my time." PT (in my opinion, at least) ought to be able to do the same. In essence, "Look, GP, if you're going to use your entire time to preach and bloviate, then how much if it remains in which for me to offer my side of the story? Or do I get to also 'reclaim my time'?" Despite this premise of parliamentary procedure, this process has lost any sort of dignity, thanks to GPs using it as an opportunity to make a speech and shut down the PT rather than having an actual discussion with the PT about whatever the issue is. If GP gets some amount of time to ask the question, then GP should be expected to sit down and shut the heck up while PT offers a response. This talking/shouting over each other business is ridiculous, childish, unnecessary, and foolish. God bless America.
