What is the malfunction with people who spit a wad of chewing gum out on the sidewalk or in a parking lot where people have to navigate around it? I had a brand new pair of shoes on today and managed to tread in a giant blob of what appears to be either bubble gum or lung tissue that was blown out of someone who was shot with a 9mm. It’s all up in amongst the traction lugs of mi zapatos nuevos and will be difficult to remove. I’m so peeved.

This might make you feel better.

When my brother and I were youngsters, the family took a 3 week vacation in the family's giant 1970s station wagon and saw most of my Mom's family out west. Mom bought me brand new sneakers right before the trip, and it's the only pair of shoes I brought on the trip.

Mom's aunt and cousins lived way out in the country in Kansas and didn't even having a mailing address (i.e. address was a rural route #). They farmed over 1000 acres. Being on the farm was extremely cool especially the big equipment. We also wanted to see livestock so they took us to a neighbor's hog farm, and I proceeded to step in gum. Guess what else what you step in at a hog farm? If you guessed pig shit you were correct.

In other words, at least your aren't digging pig shit and gum out of your new shoes.

I think Goo-Gone was originally developed to remove gum from shoes.

Acetone melts it off quickly, it’s what I use when I step in it. Just make sure your shoe soles don’t melt too.

Only reason I opened this post was I misread the title... I thought it was a 'GUN' on the sidewalk.

You're supposed to put it under your desk at school.

To remove gum from your shoe, put two tablespoons of peanut butter over the gum so it's completely covered. Let it sit for 20 minutes. Then, use a spoon to scrape the gum away. If the gum is stuck on a textured sole, you may need a wire brush to get into the crevices of your tread.

In your hair use peanut butter not scissors.

Well, I had the same problem as arfmel and a friend told me to freeze the shoe, but I had access to a co2 fire extinguisher and after a good blast of that the glob popped out in one rock hard piece. Good luck!

Is Gum on the sidewalk any worse then dog shit on the sidewalk?

Some apartment residents let their little poochie shit on the walk way.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. The WD40 worked. Freezer had too much food in it, and I don’t keep peanut butter around.
