LSUSIGSig P239 9mm Barrel
I’ve always owned Sigs over the years and have purchased at least 8 over the years.
This has included 2 for my kids graduations.
My wife and I each have an Sig P239 in .357 Sig caliber.
I think it sucks that Sig doesn’t provide support for parts and barrels for there discontinued models.
The .357 Sig ammo is so expensive and hard to find in addition not being able to find replacement 9mm barrels so that we can practice and still carry our Sig P239’s that we really like.
I’m to the point I’m going to probably sell our Sigs and look for another fire arms company that I can trust to support their product and the consumer!

I have a P239 I bought years ago. It was a .40cal. My girlfriend bought me a .357Sig barrel for it from Cheaperthandirt for it a long time ago

Excam_ManA WTB ad in the classifieds might yield you better chance of finding a 9mm barrel.

LSUSIGI had previously ran an ad in the classified section and was just letting off some steam in the hacked off section.
I called Barsto last week and a lady informed me it would be approximately 12 week wait.
I asked if the barrel would fit per an original barrel and she advised that sometimes they have to provide some filing to make it fit properly.
It concerns me that for a gouging $250 fee there should be an excellent fit!
Has any of y’all ever used Barsto regarding there Barrel replacements?

jed7s9bI picked up a SIG made 357 barrel for the P229 and it required a bit of fitting. I assume a bit of fitting is nothing unusual.

sig sailorYears ago I bought a Sig P-229 and a few years later a Sig P-239. The 239 has many hundreds of rounds through it with 0 malfunctions. The 229 has many thousands of rounds through it with 0 malfunctions including using it for years for IDPA. I love both guns! The 239 is my usual EDC and the 229 sits on my night stand every night. But since Sig decided to leave their customers high and dry with no support for the P-239, I have no plans to ever buy another Sig. They quite simply cannot be trusted!

I have a Barsto "semi-drop in" 9mm barrel for my .40 P239 and I also have factory .357sig barrel for it.
The Barsto 9mm barrel I got did not drop in (could not get the slide all the way back on the frame) so I had a local store/range w/ a gunsmith fit it for me. It's my understanding that most of them will require some fitting.
The good news is that although I only have about 100 rnds. through the 9mm barrel, it ran perfectly w/ .40 mags and recoil spring.

I’ve been looking at the H&K and the Beretta in the compact size, either 9mm or 45.
I don’t think I would like the striker fired hand guns?

Dear Dsiets,
I checked Barsto’s web site and they state they don’t make drop in barrels.
So you have to pay $250 for the barrel, ship your weapon to them and pay to have it sized to fit, approx $65 and then pay for return shipping.
By the time you’re through you have probably spent close to $350 for a replacement barrel you hope will function properly when you need it.
Good luck with that shit!

It dropped right in no problem. Have 5-600 rounds thru it using .40 mags. No issues yet

dsietsYes, I paid the local gunsmith $60 to have it fitted. I didn't get it so much for carrying 9mm, just something cheaper to practice w/.
But, I've since gone to the Glock 26. The fact that I can use mags from my Gen 2 Glock 17 from 1991 in my new Gen 5 G26 says a lot.
I've actually been using a 15 rnd. Glock 19 mag w/ X-grip adapter. It feels and shoots great and is the same length and hight as the P239 (actually a few hairs shorter).
If you can get around the striker and it being a little bit wider I would recommend renting one.
I am aware it may not be for everyone but shooting side by side w/ my nephew's H&K P30SK I much prefer the G26.

Barsto advised 12 week wait for a barrel and I’m not waiting that long to roll the dice. I’m not that lucky, I’m sure my barrel would not work and I’m out time and money.
That’s why I don’t go to casino’s!

DennisMDifferent situation here, LSUSIG, but I feel your pain.
I've been looking for a factory 357 barrel but they're nowhere to be found. Resisting the Bar-sto option for now, but it's frustrating.

Blume9mmSeems things change quickly in the gun world... I bought my second P239 back in 2019 and it was a 40 cal and I quickly found a 357 barrel here (less than a month)... then over the next year or three picked up a few more P239's in 357 sig.... now it seems they are not to be had. Few and far between.
I think the OP is going to be better off and more likely to actually just find a whole pistol in 9mm.

LSUSIGI found a gunsmith who located a factory Sig P239
9mm threaded barrel and is going to cut off the threaded end and is going to finish it off.
Hopefully it will fit with no issues.
I’ve ordered a 9mm recoil spring for it too.
I have 40 and 357 mags. I read that the 9mm ammo should feed with the 40 mags, if not I’ll swap out either a couple of 40 or 357 mags if they don’t.
I’ll know in a week if this conversion works!

Gene HillmanI had some experience with a Barsto barrel converting 9mm to .38 super in a Colt 1911. The reason why many replacement barrels are not a drop-in is that the clearances in a specific model, say a Sig 239, are not all exactly the same. If the barrel manufacturer makes it to drop in the tightest gun it will be very sloppy in the loosest gun and accuracy will suffer. Barsto stresses accuracy and it is important to a lot of shooters. The fitting is usually just a little removing of metal. The local guy that did mine many years ago actually left it so lockup required a gentle tap and told me to "shoot it in".
