Many years ago I bought a combo wireless MS Optical keyboard and mouse x2. I mean like, 20+ yrs. ago. And they are tanks. I was hoping they would fail as a reason to replace w/ back to corded versions as I used to think I was a gamer. I'm typing this on one of those keyboards. I've spilled beer on it and it's been cleaned not enough. I then ventured into Logitech and Razor. I've a $$ Razor keyboard w/ a $$ Logitech mouse on one computer that have been great. A couple yrs. ago I replace the mouse on this comp. w/ a $30+ Logitech mouse that lasted 2+ yrs. A clicker switch went bad which now seems to be a problem w/ modern mice as many went w/ a faulty/cheaper supplier. Fine if you don't mind soldering new switches. Whatever. I figured I'd try a Razor mouse and in less than two months the scroll wheel started jumping all over, up and down. Not good. Very, very irritating. I dealt w/ it for a few weeks, barely keeping sane, and then did the search and first link: https://www.reddit.com/r/razer...jumping_issues_with/ It worked. I blew my hot breath into the scroll wheel and it fixed it. Worked all day today anyway. But I'm at a loss on how this could work. But it works and if I have to do this daily, I'm fine w/ it.

Microswitches last pretty much forever but whatever structure pushes those switches can get grooved and ineffective. That groove can be fixed with JB Weld, epoxy, thin metal, a number of ways. It's kinda fiddly and delicate work but worth it if you love your pointing device. Set the controls for the heart of the Sun.
