Over past 10+ years, I have had dozens of Duracell AA batteries leak and cause significant damage to what they were in, and therefore swore to never EVER buy them again! Well, now their CR2032 Lithium button cells have been added to that list.

No, I didn't have one leak, but I did have TWO them die at least 2 years too early! I was checking over my AR this evening, and one of those checks was to insure the red-dot sight on it was still functional. It was dead, so I opened the package I had for the other battery and put it in... also dead! Mad The back of the package was clearly labeled "Best if used by 2030"...

At this point, I will never use ANY Duracell product again! I don't know how long they've been made in China, but I suspect that is at least part of the problem.

Energizer have been the better deal for regular AA & AAA when I'm getting groceries, so those have been what we've gotten the past few times.

I have used those quite a bit with excellent results, but lately I've switched to Amazon branded AA and AAA, also with excellent results!

Apparently I’m the only forum member whose Duracell Alkaline batteries never leak. Mine are mostly AA, a few D, and one 9V.

I keep my stock in the fridge until replacements are needed.

I haven't had any problems with Duracell. Everready have not had good longevity for me, especially 9v.

Yep, had a bunch of Duracells leak in flashlights last few years, so also moved to Energizers.

Either Panasonic or Sony for me. Never an issue.

Put them in something expensive Pipe Smoker, like a $500 Fluke Multimeter or your Eotech. How's that commercial go: "YOU'LL BE SORRRRYYYY".

I have nearly 100 percent switched to Eneloop rechargeables on items which terminate at a lower voltage. (Eneloops are @1.41 Volts fully charged vs @1.59V for Alkaline AA and AAA.). I'd tried the Energiser Lithium for my Eotech and it swelled up and leaked. Fortunatly, the Eotech battery compartment was replaceable for under $20 back then.

Thanks for the heads up on the 2032s. I just had to replace my truck key battery and I was surprised as it's a 2023 model. My car, which I use a lot more, still has an operational OEM battery and it's a 2021 (never replaced). Likely all the other sized Duracell coin cells are crap I would expect.

I’ve used Duracell 9V alkaline batteries exclusively in my FLUKE 115 multimeter since I bought it 7 or 8 years ago. No leaks.

Congrats on beating the odds. Curiously, Duracell's 9V tend to not leak as much as some others. Perhaps because they are double cased. They are 6 round 1.5V cells encased in the square metal case. I lost a Fluke 27/FM to a leaking Duraleak 9V. Many other Flukes take the 1.5V round AA Duraleaks. I literally had them leak while still newish inside of the package. I''m done with them.

Danish fella Henrich tears them down to show the internals of quite a few here: https://lygte-info.dk/info/Bat...9VAlkaline%20UK.html

I recently tossed out my supply of Costco-bought Duracells, many of which had leaked, and purchased a supply of Tenergy NiMH rechargeables in AAA, AA, C, D, and 9V. It set me back a buck or two, but hopefully they are the last batteries I buy for awhile.

I stopped buying Duracells several years ago after having multiple devices ruined by leakage. All of my alkaline batteries now are Energizers and I've had zero problems with them. I keep a small supply of Eneloop AA's and AAA's for things like remote controls. CR123's are Surefire or Streamlight branded. I just picked up a cheapie Sig rangefinder that takes a CR2 battery. The battery it came with is Chinese, so I'll be replacing that with an Energizer ASAP.

Instructions for my BP monitor specifically state that rechargeable should not be used. I find that lithium primaries (Energizer AAA lithium) last a long time in that device, and do not leak.

That's what I use in devices that are costly and/or difficult to replace, especially if a long period of times goes between battery changes. Things like my bass guitar will only ever get 9V lithium inside!

I’ve repeatedly had those got damned Duracells leak BRAND NEW (unused) STILL IN THE SEALED PACKAGE. And long before their expiration date, stored in a drawer in my air conditioned house. Pieces of shit, they are.
