A small piece of dry pavement likely saved your life lady
A 50MPH slide directly into the driver's door of your aluminum foil minivan would have, at the very least, ruined your day...and mine.
Yeah, I saw you pull up to the cross road and stop. I also saw that you never once looked left and looked right the entire time you pulled out to try to cross the road in front of me.
I, traveling on a mostly dry road had only a patch of ice to try to stop before creaming you. Luckily for you, and me, there happened to be a dry patch right at the end which allowed me to skid to a stop no more than two inches from your door.
And then, bless your heart, you had the nerve to flip ME off. If I had it to do again, I might think twice about trying to avoid the collision as, in my 3/4 ton diesel with a big-ass cast iron deer catcher on the front, I would have been fine.
With deference to George Carlin, I invented a few more words you can't say on television, so thank you for that.
I should have known better than to head in to the big city today. Woman drivers.

Glad you were able to avoid. That would have been a nasty result for her.

I was just channeling my dad there.

I've come to the point where if someone is this foolish I don't try nearly as hard to stop, slowing down enough to that I'm not hurt is good enough. BTW, my daily driver is a 1986 Olds Cutlass so I have a decent front bumper and NO AIR BAGS. BTW, I drive the Cutlass because I don't like Air Bags and because I am paying enough for health insurance to lease a brand spanking new Mercedes.
I've stopped counting.

I have been tempted, more than once, to adopt this approach. I just can't get past the thought that the idiot driver might have innocent kids in the car with her. That's probably the main thing that influences me to make every effort to avoid a collision in these circumstances.

I DO miss the days when I drove an unmarked car.
I "educated" a lot of bad drivers. Idiots just like the "Fail to Yield after stopping" twat the OP described.

That's the kicker for me.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I dont even try to stop. If I've got right away, my millions from your insurance will keep me warm while I'm in a cast of some sort. However, we all know I'm one of us young whippersnappers so I'd survive easier.
