...at the bank (or any drive-thru for that matter) you should have gone inside.

It should be weapons free for anyone doing their monthly banking, or ordering food for the whole family or the whole office, while at the drive-thru.

That is all.

Agree - the whole point of drive thru is expediency. And that's saying something given it's fast food to begin with.

That said, I don't think I've ever used drive through, even when ordering to go. I always just go inside.

Off thread: it amuses me that there is always a long drive through line (at least 10-15 cars) at a local starchuck coffee place when right in the same stripmall, there is a pretty decent boutique coffee shop with MUCH better coffee and less wait. No drive through but still.....

If each car is 2-3 minutes, you'd have to wait about 20-30 minutes in your car. While you could get much better coffee likely much sooner at the coffeeshop.

Slight thread drift:

When in line at the (usually grocery) store, instead of bullshitting with the cashier, how about DUMPING OUT YOUR STEAMER TRUNK-SIZED PURSE AND FINDING YOUR GODDAMNED CREDIT CARD BEFORE THE TOTAL POPS UP?

I was at the drive thru ATM a few months ago, second in line and just sitting. After the 7th card got put in I queued " Move Bitch, get out the way" and blasted it from my speakers. They didn't appreciate that

This reminds me of the "get outta the line" bit that john pinette used to do. Funny stuff. But so ubiquitous that there is a bit about it. Sad commentary about our society.

Yep, that's another one, along with the little old ladies who will write a check, but wait to pull it out of their purse until the total comes up. Then, of course, they have to take the time to balance the checkbook after writing the check. Mad

When I would see 12 cars in line at the drive thru, I would take note of which car I would have been behind, park, go inside, come out with crappy food and still would have been number five in line.
Someone please queue up Joe Pesci clip about the drive thru!
I don't do fast food anymore. Maybe Chic filet once in a while.
And another thing, if you go inside they prioritize the drive thru over people standing at the counter. Ten cars will go through before you get yours.

I found a Dunkin Donuts in the S. Kearney NJ area a few years back that had two drive thru - set up's. One for whatever you wanted, and one for "liquids" only.

This is the way.

Banking: I pull up to the window with check(s) endorsed for deposit, deposit slip already to go. Straight deposit -- no cash back, no discussion, no problem solving, just take the check(s) and deposit slip and give me a receipt. Nobody else at the drive through. And it still takes the cashier more than ten minutes to process a simple deposit. Weapons free? What caliber would it take to penetrate the bullet-proof window?

Fast Food (oxymoron): Not a big fan of McDonald's, but sometimes it's the only choice when I'm on the way home and don't have time to prepare a real meal. I use the app, place the order, pay for it, so the only thing I have to do when I arrive at the drive-through is speak the code for my order into the clown's mouth. As soon as I give them the code, the details of my order appear on the screen. I pull up to the window and wait for the order. And wait. And wait. They had all the details, they had the payment, the delay is totally on them. OK, I might delay an additional thirty seconds while I check the order before driving off -- too frequently, they forget something, like "Where are the fries?"

I thought the point was so the lazy asses didn't have to get up out of their cars and walk all the way to the door?

Uh oh I'm guilty of that. I stop at the little local pharmacy once every 90 days to pick up my prescription. It's not like the old days when the pharmacist actually mixed, ground up, and made the medicine. They simply click the computer, out comes the label, their dispenser automatically fills the little bottle with 90 pills, the cashier lady turns around, gets it and rings me up. Usually takes 4-5 minutes sometimes they can drag it out to 10. It would take me 25 minutes to leave, go home, and return.

They just opened a Starbucks in my area, line was 10 or so cars the other day. I drove by, went to a grocery store, headed back and the line had moved maybe 2 vehicles! A hundred yards away is a veteran owned drink company, had one car! Only time I drive up is the bank and I never get behind someone.

My bank has a drive through that is usually empty. Two or three lanes. I never use it. I only go one a month for our cash allowance. Everything else is online.

My daughter is in the banking industry and said the use of branch banks and drive-throughs has been declining for years so many or even most are being eliminated to save money. Most banking, even mortgages, are being done on laptops (geezers) or phones (younger people).

Some people are incapable of ordering in a timely manner in any venue (drive thru, face to face, etc). Can't be bothered to look at anything before it's their turn (i.e. most looking at phone instead), and then act like they've been asked how to split an atom when it's their turn.

I’ve seen people order $80 worth of stuff in the drive thru line. It held up 20+ vehicles. Finally getting to the window, where there were portions of idling for 10 minutes straight in the same spot, I asked WTF. At first the worker didn’t want to relay the truth but I pushed. He points at the car they made get out of line and says “They ordered $80 worth of shit. They need to take their ass to the grocery store.” Dude was pissed. I finally get my food, pull up alongside the idiot car, and stop. 4 Gen Z fucktwits, all looking down at their phones. When I stopped they all looked up, completely puzzled at this truck next to them staring at their dumbasses.

Since Covid, these entitlement assholes have been on a rampage, anywhere, everywhere, and it’s never going back to common decency. When I was younger, it was established that if ordering a bunch of stuff, say a family of 4 or larger, you parked, went inside, and left the drive thru line alone. People no longer adhere to this common decency practice. They don’t give a fuck. They only care about themselves and their attitude is fuck everyone else, deal with it.
