Email overload
Holy crap...I'm a retired old guy who typically gets 1 or 2 emails a day. Just opened my box and there were 34 Black Friday "deals". No way I gave out my email address that many times this year. Seems a few of the current data breaches were sold.

ETA - This is an email I only use for banking, healthcare, and .gov. I use a different email for online purchases and everything else.

First it was the election texts, and now this. Is there no escaping this shit?

I've been fixin' to pitch a similar bitch for weeks.

What marketing guru convinced the other marketing lemmings it was OK send 3 e-mails a day to existing customers? I'm not talking Black Friday either, it's Mon-Fri every damned week with these assholes. With these vendors, I haven't even noticed a difference in volume the last 2 days.

One e-mail a day is too much. I'm fine with 1 or 2 e-mails per week.

Yep.

Nothing like being bludgeoned over the head with dozens/hundreds of emails forming an incessant cacophony of rampant consumerism to put you in the holiday spirit.

Instead of "Ho, Ho, Ho", Santa's real catchphrase is "Buy, Buy, BUY"!

I've been having the same experience lately. Two to three emails per day from some vendors. The difference between you and me is that I have had an increase this last week. The other day, I had six to eight emails each from a couple of vendors. Yesterday, I had two from one vendor in 14 minutes!

I really hate this time of year.

A few years ago I added an additional GMail account. It’s my regular email with the word SMAM added to it.

Anything I register online for, anything I need to sign up for, goes to the SPAM email account.

Keeps my regular Gmail clean and gives me a place to look if I have any interest in a particular store’s recent deals.

It’s about the celebration of the birth of our Lord. You know the one that got tortured to death by Romans to cleanse ALL your sins! Do you even think about Christ during this time?

Every day I wake up to 15-20 emails from corporations on cracked out consumerism. Black Friday Sale, Cyber Monday sale. How about just call all this shit holiday sale and have the shit go on for 6 weeks? The funny thing is I just watched the YT’er go through various products. He runs some extension on his browser and tracks prices on various products throughout the year. So he brings up product after product and it was cheaper 6 weeks ago, 2 months ago, etc. The point is Black Friday or Cyber Monday is NOT the cheapest time to get something you’ve been needing or saving up for. So all these sales, are mostly bullshit, and marketing. In other words it’s all a sham.

The “holidays” are just an excuse for people to buy shit they don’t need with money they don’t have to impress people they don’t know and to stuff their guts with food they don’t need to be eating as they are likely, already, overweight. So the celebration of Christ has turned into most of the 7 deadly sins. Gluttony, lust, greed, sloth, and pride.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Try being at an employer when you go on vacation for a week and come back to 400 unread emails, of which about 100 are marked high importance or urgent. It will take me half a day to get cleaned up to be back into a groove.

I saw a YouTube video recorded in a Walmart on Black Friday. A couple was sliding out the Black Friday "sale" price placards and the placard underneath (i.e. the every day price) was identical price item after item. Fucking sham to motivate people to buy that day.

The spam calls due to Medicare open enrollment have gone off the charts this year.
Not sure why they've gone up about 500% recently because I haven't been shopping online or any of the other usual triggers of that stuff.

You have a link to that video? I would really like to see it, and pass it along to somebody I know who works for Walmart.

I misremembered. It was Target not Walmart.

I am definitely NOT a fan of Target. I do not like the store, I don't go there any more, but I do have to say something in their defense, re the linked video.

In every instance that I saw, the price placard under the "Black Friday" placard, did not appear to be the every day price. In each instance, the placard that was revealed when the Black Friday price placard was moved, did indicate that the price was a SALE price. To clarify what I'm saying, the "SALE" placard was overlaid by a "Black Friday" placard; they both had the same price and they were both sale prices, not every day prices.

In my opinion, the video was deliberately misleading. That fact does not make me like Target, but it does make me dislike the couple who made the video.

Yes, Black Friday was full. It seemed as if every company I have ever ordered from over the last 25+ years of using that email was having a sale.

I have also had a huge influx in complete unrelated crap SPAM for the last week since.
