A Litany of Small Annoyances
"All Right" is two words, regardless of what some woke dictionaries say!

Fake chewing in commercials--eat the damn burger!

Eurotrash devices on cars: Push button ignition switches, incomprehensible icons on controls vs WORDS. And whatever happened to LOW Range on auto transmissions? Gone!

Automatic mayonnaise installed on every damn sandwich you order! Horseradish sauce=mayo. Russian dressing=mayo. And on and on...

"Do you need change?"

Banks and credit unions holding larger checks for 10 days! I can use an ATM in Cairo and my account is instantly updated, so why is this?

"We are not accepting calls at this time" --from my local Mazda dealer. Huh??

Reconstituted/seasoned French Fries. Curly fries. Jeez, just slice up a potato and throw the pieces in the fryer!

Muffins. The damn things crumble all over the place and make a mess. Why were these invented?

New cars with such small turbocharged high-compression engines that they require Premium gas. Like my Volvo.

As A Volvo V90cc owner I’ll add how in world did they think a 15.9 gallon gas tank would be a good thing on a car that big?

MPG. (but I am sure you knew that)

Less gas = less weight = better gas mileage. (Same thing applies to the Dodge Hellcat and its 18 gallon tank on a vehicle which can average less than 10 MPG. Big Grin )

Has to do with the company's overall MPG number(s) instead of the individual vehicle.

I've never had a store-bought or bakery muffin that was any good. Many of them are basically cupcakes posing as muffins. Homemade and eaten within a few hours of baking are best, they are no good the next day.

That’s quite a list!

Do you keep a little notebook and then post when you hit a certain number?

You need to let it out sooner, it’s not good to keep it all in like that.

Big Grin

The button that stops stopping your truck at red lights!!!!!

I fucking hate it. It’s my truck and my gas, if I wanna run it during the two minutes that the light is red I shouldn’t have to push a button to turn it off!! It should default to on all the time..if you feel like saving the whales then by all means depress your button.

I have inadvertently discovered a possible work-around.

On my RAV4, the engine doesn't shut off unless I really stand on the brake. If I keep it depressed just enough to keep the car from rolling, it keeps running.

Some of that may be due to having the heater running this time of year, I'll have to see if it works in more clement (I check, yes that IS a word!) weather.

Good rant. Do you need change? Yes I want my freaking change.

Hmmm….I like the push button start. Keys stay in my coat pocket sometimes days at a time.

Otherwise, rant on.

I found if I disconnect a grey connection under the dash..the truck thinks I have a trailer attached and it never shuts off at a light…(found the tip at some f150 YouTube video)

But I just jammed a business card folded over in the switch and it will stay off for months, but eventually wiggles out and it’s off to the races again.

I have an intense dislike for that one too. A while back I read somewhere here on the forum that wasn't allowed to be a permanent setting because if the government's NHTSA CAFE regulations. If they allow it to be permanently set, the mfg cannot use the fuel savings in fleet data.

I like that button. It's become a part of my start up routine, done just before releasing the parking brake and putting the car in drive.

Let me add another one…

Why the f^%k do car manufacturers sell cars without a spare? Not everyone lives in a city..

No spare tire = cost savings . Also weight savings = better fuel economy .

My new Bronco Sport came with a full size spare, so I guess only some new cars come without one.

The problem is that the 90 series Volvos (I have an XC90) don't get very good mileage. I get about 20-22 on mine in mostly highway driving (75/25) and that means she's pretty well empty by 300 miles. Coming from a Tahoe that carried 10 more gallons and got 18 MPG in similar conditions, it was somewhat surprising. They're asking the 2.0L turbo and supercharged engine to do a lot

That has been my exact experience, gas tank should been 18 gallons minimum. My wife`s MB E350 has a +450 mile range. On ski trips up to VT I find myself having to top off multiple times due to this low range. Love the car but this is a huge annoyance. I think the V90 is circa 5200 lbs, lot of car for a 4 banger despite the SC/Turbo.

Yes, my start up routine includes that along with me disabling the interactive cruise control (I like cruise control, just not the interactive version).
